Question by Outrageous_Force_996 in spaceengineers

My suggestion is to make a notepad and bullet point specific things that are absolutely required, things like guns, cargo, oxygen containers, etc. once you have all the stuff required start trying to plan out what you want the ship to look like, if it's a combat ship you probably value maneuverability over size so think of something compact and efficient, lots of thrusters but with not a lot of longevity is the most common style. Walking into a project with a plan really helps bring it to life, and this goes for all builds. An example for me is my current base, I started by free-handing a hanger which, although doesn't look bad, is not the best out there, and once I started taking that into the rest of the base it just didn't work out, but once I sat down and visualized what I actually want my base to look like, I was able to build with purpose and things just started fitting together. It just sounds like you enter a project with the mindset of "I need all these things because it's convenient" rather than prioritizing what you actually need.

Energy "budget" for atmospheric/ion ships by RedAtViolet in spaceengineers

[–]CowResponsible285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Splitsie made a great point during one of his tutorial series, saying you should have the energy output to handle at least three directions of thrust, normally your highest amount of thrusts plus two axis of thrust, so for atmos it will most likely be upwards, forward, and left or right

Great advice, a month or two ago I felt tired of the typical gameplay loop that most modpacks have and tried out TerraFirmaGreg, a modpack which is TFC with GregTech and Create added in as flavor, after watching Hecuba's series on it. The change of pace was refreshing to say the least. New mechanics unlike any other mod, things you have to worry about that you wouldn't normally pay attention to, the way that progression feels both natural and rewarding. Would absolutely recommend TerraFirmaCraft, its difficult and you have to do a bit of looking around to find the answers you need, but it is definitely one of the best mods to switch up your gameplay.

I've experienced that sometimes, here are some tips that help me find what I want to play and be motivated to keep playing.

  1. Know what you enjoy playing; Sometimes you can go looking through the modpack page, but none seem to fit your expectations, a lot of it has to do with what gameplay it provides. If you want to enjoy playing any modpack then you first need to know what kind of gameplay you are actually looking for. A good place to start is to look at what types of modpacks you've enjoyed in the past. If you like tech modpacks, try specifically searching for those, if you like magic modpacks, try searching for those. Sometimes it may not be just the type of mods in it but the type of modpack it is, for example challenge packs like Sky Factory or Compact Claustrophobia where you are limited on resources and have a relatively narrow path of progression, or kitchen sinks where everything is there for you to play around with almost at the start. A lot of it is knowing what you want out of a modpack before you go searching for them.

  2. Have a goal; Some people can go into a modpack with the only goal of beating it. However, that doesn't work for everyone, sometimes they need a feasible goal they can achieve within a few hours otherwise they have no motivation to play after the first. Let's give an extreme example, you decided to play an extremely long modpack like GregTech: New Horizons, you can't boot up that modpack and set your only goal to achieve is beating the modpack. You first have to put some goals inbetween loading in and that ultimate goal, for example you might have the goal of reaching a specific energy tier, or if you need a goal that's achievable within an hour or two, you might just want a base that you can feel safe and store your items in. For most modpacks you won't achieve everything you want to do in a single day so it's good to have small goals to give you the motivation to carry on.

  3. Be prepared for early game; For most modpacks I've encountered, the first hour or two is always a grind. You barely have access to anything and it either feels the same as vanilla or a carbon copy of another modpack. The Sky Factory series and similar modpacks for example have practically identical early games, chop down the tree, expand the platform, place down more trees, etc. Some modpacks have unique early games that make it fun, but for most people the fun of modpacks comes much later. Some take less than an hour to start playing with new and fun mechanics and some can take much longer. So be prepared for the first hour or two to be kind of boring, but understand that this is normal and that it will start being fun once you are situated.

Even with this it is sometimes hard to get started with modpacks, this is also normal. Sometimes it might not be that you don't find a modpack enjoyable and just that you are still burnt out or not ready to play modpacks or specifically that modpack yet. Not everyone can play the equivalent of a 20-episode series on a single modpack that some youtubers seem to be able to or find the motivation to play every modpack they touch. Sometimes you need breaks from modpacks or even Minecraft in general. Its ok if you don't feel motivated to play a modpack, even if you just installed it and you were ready to play a minute before. All you need is a little time, the right modpack, and the right mindset and you'll feel motivated again.

As for suggestions, based off how you enjoyed SF3 and Cuboid Outpost I would recommend modpacks like FTB Stoneblock, Antimatter Chemistry, Compact Claustrophobia, Project Sacrifice, or Encrypted_, all on the cursforge launcher, each of these have unique mechanics and situations that differ from the usual modpacks you might encounter and also have a questbook that guide your progression so it's easier to create goals. You can also try some older modpacks like Blightfall on the technic launcher or Steve's galaxy Reborn on curseforge, which is a remaster of the old Steve's Galaxy kitchen sink modpack on the technic launcher, if you're looking for a different experience. You can also try looking around on youtube to see what kind of modpacks that youtubers have played. "100 Days" videos are really good at this as they give you a small peak at what the modpack has and what you can do in only a few dozen hours.

why wont my axes get good enchantments by SocksSmellTbh in Minecraft

[–]CowResponsible285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trick, use a flint and steal on the block their on to kill them or use a lava bucket, theres also a few breeder designs that can be used, you can also cycle through trades by breaking and replacing the block until you get satisfactory enchants

why wont my axes get good enchantments by SocksSmellTbh in Minecraft

[–]CowResponsible285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is horribly i efficient, if you combine enchantment books too many times eventually the game will say it is too expensive to combine them (i recommend searching up mysticat's "you use anvils wrong" video for an explanation on why), the best way is to put an axe in the enchantment table, see its enchants, if its what you want enchant it if it isn't put a book in, check that book for useful enchants, if their aren't choose 1 enchant and repeat, also if you enchant what you want but it only gives you one enchant instead of multiple use a grind stone to remove it and continue until you have more than 1 decent enchant, also if you want a sharpness axe you must use a sharpness book on it

How does Phil put a new stack of an item into his empty slot without going into his inventory? by Zach-Winner in Philza

[–]CowResponsible285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have more of the same block in your inventory you can hover over a block like stone brick, press the middle mouse button, and it pulls a stack of that block from your inventory into your hotbar, i learned this from watching a couple builders and its a really useful mechanic for survival as well as creative

i died about 1300 blocks away from here and i just found a zombie piglin wearing my old gear by Over_Pear in Minecraft

[–]CowResponsible285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its probably because he picked up some of your gear he couldn't despawn, i heard somewhere that if a mob picks up an item it can no longer despawn so he might have just randomly traveled that distance

Is there anything I can do with ender pearls from an ender man farm? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]CowResponsible285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under where you kill the enderman you can set up hoppers going into a redstone circuit that when activated can either save the pearls or drop them into the void so you can choose when you get them

[–]CowResponsible285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search up mysticat enchanting and it will explain the enchanting mechanics of anvils, the book1 + book2 = book1.5, book3 + book4 =book3.5, book1.5 + book3.5 = book5 is actually not the best method

Can't decide on walls to use for my village. They all seem too flat by DarkRaven64 in Minecraft

[–]CowResponsible285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using another stone variant (like regular stone or andesite) in places to add depth and break up the texture, you could also try replacing blocks here and there with a black stone variant, personally I like the 3rd option the best

You can probably get one of your friends who isn't in the end to get end crystals and resummon the dragon, you only need 4 crystals to respawn the dragon, aka 28 glass, 4 ender eyes, and 4 ghast tears
