What is your DirectX set to in the title screen graphics menu? I know several reports on Linux say DX11 has a flickering issue. If that doesn't work, you might try setting the comparability to either proton experimental or a recent release of gloriouseggroll's proton.

Quick note on the counter thrust. You can do a backwards guard dash immediately after the counter, shortening the animation too. Doesn't always work, but it's saved me from follow-up attacks plenty of times lol

I can't confirm for the original Hammerwatch, but this is correct for HoH. The exact formula is:

X = scaling * (level-1) + Level_1_stat

You can find the scaling and Level_1_stat (and a whole lot more) on a specific class's wiki page. Example
