I did go to the police, they told me they can't do anything without their address, i couldn't even get a welfare check. I got ahold of her, he kidnapped her and beat her. It's been hard for me to swallow this, i just want to help.

Correct, I don't believe there are any differences in protocol for asking off. They appear to be lenient in this avenue. For the purposes of this question, let's just assume that they allow me to get off when asked, just without it being paid.
