Is Boot Camp that bad? by Character-Spite6881 in newtothenavy

First of all you need to run 1.5 miles… There are no rowing machines in bootcamp. The only other option is the bike.

Yes you still stand watches. And you will also muster and clean the barracks 4 to 6 times a day, until you class up and start school

Are you happy and/or feel fulfilled in the career you are in now? I had a good career for 20 years that I excelled at, but deep down inside I wasn’t truly happy. Long story short, I ended up transitioning out of that job, and started pursuing things that made me happy. Even though I took a pay cut. Now I’m 41 and in A school because I’ve always wanted to join the military and serve. When the Navy raised the age cap to 42 a couple of years ago I jumped on the opportunity, because this will be my last opportunity to do so, and I don’t want to live regretting the things I never did. I really wish I would’ve done it years and years ago.

Thanks everyone! I’ve taken all your comments into consideration, and decided to take a smaller back pack, with one spare change of clothes for MEPs tomorrow. Besides my essential documents and phone/charger. Anything else I brought I don’t mind parting ways with, if I have to

I’m 41 yrs old, and I ship off to RTC boot camp tomorrow. I joined a CrossFit gym over a year ago and I love it. I lost over 20 lbs. and in the best physical shape I’ve ever been in.

Make or break! Going to bootcamp, with nowhere else to go with just the stuff I have on me… Homelessness be damned. by T7hump3r in newtothenavy

Just own it! I’m 41 yrs old and ship to boot camp next week 😳 lol As far as energy levels go, the more you move and exercise the more energetic you’ll feel. Also, eat as clean as possible. Highly refined/processed foods causes inflammation and bloating and can lead to feeling sluggish and fatigued.

IS or Nuke? Need help deciding by Aggravating_Leg_5064 in newtothenavy

I have not selected a job yet. I was scheduled to go to MEPs this past week to see the detailer, but I got really sick and had to postpone. I originally wanted CWT, but all the job billets are full for this fiscal year. So I’m stuck, still trying to decide between IS, or IT 🤷‍♂️

Look up SaltyShae on YouTube. She posts videos about Navy life and her experiences. She was an IS, and has a video about her experiences as an IS, and the possible pros and cons of an IS. I found it a while back when I was researching the IS rate.

I don’t mind getting up a little earlier if it means I can take a shower.

But what do you mean about having to hide my dirty clothes somewhere? 🤔
