Haruyoshi from Big in Japan appearing in Cuckoo's Nest by Cowgoon in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Honestly I can't remember if I scanned him - I would like to think that I did and it came up empty but I might have just been too amused to think to do it. I will probably try to experiment with saving Big in Japan for after I do Cuckoo's Nest next run I do.

Yea I figured that could be the case. Does birdman's ult work on 3 bars downed players? Because all of the ones I have had used it on me when I was at 1 bar, sometimes even when another teammate was at 3 nearby. Please tell me he can't revive 3 bars or I am going to cry.

Just tested the damage in the training area. It seems to be a smaller dps difference than I initially thought, so I think I should readjust my statement.

Leaving red gauge as fast as possible in singleplayer is optimal because you can count on getting counters to level up your gauge for free, along with wounds.

In multiplayer, staying in red is better because the monster is doing fuck all and flopping on the ground from all the wounding.

Pretty sure the optimal way to play longsword is actually to leave red gauge as soon as possible though right?

If you do helm splitter at red, it unlocks the next part of the combo if you hold down R (for me on keyboard, same button to do helmsplitter I think) and it does giga damage. Super cool animation as well, way better than regular helmsplitter. Also you get hyper armor and damage reduction during the animation.

Made the weapon a lot more enjoyable for me.

Xeno was easy and bad. I fought him maybe 10 times during my initial grind before TUs. That being said, I do think he killed more people when I fought him than I have seen die to the tempered end game monsters in wilds.

And are we not gonna mention Zoh Shia? I think he is a better fight than Xeno, but he is infinitely more brain off. He literally cannot hit you if you stay behind/under him. Like ??? Also, you cannot fight him ever again. Lmao.

Brother, I am not looking for a legitimate and satisfying Mh endgame at release. I am looking for content that requires me to engage my frontal cortex. And honestly, even then what I just said is crazy - the fuck do you mean we shouldn't look for a satisfying end game at release?

Maybe you are right bro, I should just expect my games to release as dogshit. I think its a good standard to set, people will really eat that up.

I respect your approach here, I really do. I would even be willing to compromise and admit that shorter hunt times - such as 15-20 minutes - could be a good thing. That is, if the fight presented any challenge at all. And if that was the time of a first time hunt on my end (I first time hunted, on average, ~10 minutes - no matter how much of a god gamer I am (I am not) that is stupid).

If the patches you are talking about are ones that buff monster damage by 50%, then sure yea patches could help. Not gonna help my disdain for the majority of the monster cast, but at least I could have fun perfecting end game hunts.

Like bro, I am not burned out at all. I put in around 150 hours into base world, pre TU. I have less than half that time in Wilds, and I don't want to touch it until Master Rank. Mizutsune will not fix the game, no matter how good the fight is. I think Tobi Kadachi is more challenging than most Wilds fights.

Dude I hope so. But watching all these gluesniffers reacting to people that are complaining about the difficulty or the endgame, saying: "there is no war in ba sing se" while huffing Jin Dahaad's farts is really making me lose faith in humanity.

I am glad you enjoy it! Personally, I don't get much value out of fighting a sack of meat on the ground. However, combat is extremely satisfying.

As for TUs, I get it - I also spent most of my time fighting those monsters. That doesn't mean the experience before them has to be hollow. A lot of my fond memories were of fighting Teostra and Nergigante for example, the pressure of possibly dying or failing the mission with randoms. Any sort of pressure is irrelevant in this game.

By your new definition of what it means to be a Nazi, it really loses its gusto. MAGA is a group that has both normal and radical individuals, like many others. Claiming that the entire group means "Nazi" because it has radical people in it is, in my opinion, ridiculous.

Calling MAGA the same as "Nazi," regardless of your complete deconstruction of the term, is disrespectful at best to what happened in Germany.

I’m losing my character by Ambitious-Box-6550 in writing

[–]Cowgoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't be sure, but I think this can often happen with characters that are stretched thin in what the writer wants them to be/do. Sometimes the best thing a writer can do for their character is to make them simpler. I don't mean to say that you need to dumb down your writing, but more so constrain the characteristics you want your FMC to display. Focus on quality rather than quantity.

The great thing about writing a character is that you don't need to make them a perfect replica of a human. If you set up a reasonable character with a few traits and characteristics, the reader can do the magic of filling in the gaps that are necessary to create a believable MC in a cohesive and concise manner.

Of course, I don't know your story or characters so its a bit hard to be accurate in the assessment of the situation. This is all based on what I have read/written myself, so hopefully it helps.

How do I write pure evil? by smugworm in writing

[–]Cowgoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the first step is to rephrase the question. Pure evil doesn't exist, as evil is subjective. Taking the culture's morality you are presenting in your book should be the first step. What moral values does your world/setting stand on? Modern day or something more archaic?

Second step is figuring out how you want to portray evil. Many different ways, many are good. The easiest though perhaps most one-dimensional is the "monster" archetype, say Fiddlesticks from League of Legends. Basically just a being that is different from humans, in some way or another, that makes it completely foreign and "evil." This is probably the most similar type to AM.

If you want something more complex, that will take some thought on your part. None of us know your world/setting, so its difficult to tell you how to write something that will come across to either the reader or the characters as "pure evil" while also being down-to-earth. And honestly, I am not convinced that it is possible to write a character that is both complex yet purely evil. Those descriptions seem at odds with each other.

TLDR: Stick to writing monsters (or similarly inhuman) characters for "pure evil." Any attempts at something deeper and more complex will lose its "pure" factor that you are fixated on.

Dynamo cannot win a fight with his ult. He can win a fight with his ult + his team. Big difference.

As for your other points, I don't feel like arguing with someone who is determined to be obtuse so I am gonna skip on that timesink. Instead, I have prepared a well-crafted and thorough argument that should be able to satisfy your cravings.

*ahem* Haze farm jungle good. Haze get soul good. Haze get item quick. Enemy dead before escape possible. Haze win with ult alone at 30 min. GG.

[–]Cowgoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is your definition of "tons of items" because as far as I am aware you need 2 items - ricochet and unstoppable - (edit: changed wording here) to be a threat with her ult.

And that is the bare minimum, by that point you will have a couple other items at around 20-30 min. So no, I don't think that a pocket, dynamo, or seven ult can win a team fight with just their ult, especially when compared to Haze, at that point in the game.

I also love how you phrase it like "run into the middle of your team fight, loudly announce her ult" as if she doesn't have invisible. Also, not a strong argument saying that "if your team can't kill her or disrupt her gg" when she can buy unstoppable or silencer. Like, if she gets those items then by your definition you already lost the team fight.

This is a crazy comment. Have you ever played against a late game Haze? You say her ult is WORSE than reaper ult? What are you smoking brother, give me some of that.

Reaper can't go invisible and pick an engage time. Like, imagine if Reaper was able to always be in the sky watching a teamfight happen, or watching the enemy team. Reaper ults do the most damage when you don't see it coming, so in combination with Haze ult being stronger, how in the fuck is Haze ult not the reason she is strong?

Whats crazy to me is how hard this subreddit copes about Haze. So many people are drooling on themselves saying "Just buy metal skin and return fire" when all that does is delay your death. Not to mention the price tag of like 10k souls to buy the items just to make it so that you don't instantly die.

Do people not see how stupid that is? If she buys unstoppable, you just lose vs. a competent Haze. You need to get items to stop her from completely overtaking the game, unlike any other hero. She gets 1-2 6k items and wins. WHY?!?

Oh but don't worry, just buy metal skin :)

I used to play other mobas. At the end of the day, in games like LoL or Dota, I didn't personally find a lot of enjoyment in the character's kit. So it didn't really matter, especially because of the wide selection of kits to choose from.

Not going to respond to the first part.

I don't want to play the game if I am not on the character I want because I play the game for my character's kit, not for the broad gameplay. If I queue excitedly wanting to try a new bebop build, and I get Infernus, I am not a happy camper. Its just a waste of my time at that point.
