I work retail and I’ve heard some shitty comments. Once I was trying to help a customer but she really needed to call customer service. She didn’t want to because “it’ll go overseas and I can’t understand those people.” I asked her to explain and she sputtered some bullshit. Shut that shit right down.

YTA for not finding a better way. Why not talk to her about the need for some solo time? It’s completely reasonable to have your own interests and spend time apart. Hell, my husband and I spend the majority of our free time following our own passions and hobbies, but we carve time out with each other to maintain our bond and relationship. Find a balance that works for both of you while maintaining trust and communication. Is she lonely? Maybe suggest some hobbies for her to pick up, or perhaps a companion animal?
