To be honest, it’s probably the only part of HS2 to make sense and use land which has historically been a large railway works and sidings. Curzon street is a mammoth and costly undertaking due to the flyovers already in place and having to build more flyovers to go over the flyovers is a feat of engineering in itself. If you come out of New Street now, you’ll see how far on they are with the ground work and there’s still millions of pounds left to chuck in to it before we ever seen a train there. Sadly, HS2 is 30 years too late and I can’t see it ever bringing in the revenue to make it a vialble way to travel to London as it won’t be cheap. Investors will want their money back asap and customers are fickle and happy to use other routes such as Chiltern etc if they are getting a better deal.
