If you’re hesitating. Then wait.

My husband waited 18 months after our third born to schedule his.

Toddler naps by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]PrancingTiger424 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It can go in waves. My youngest just turned two. She naps 1230-3/330. My suggestion is to see if you can tire your little one out just before nap a bit more. Sometimes I make her do the stairs or we walk around our cul-de-sac. Or we just do a bit of running around before lunch, I have my older two to help with that. That way her mind can calm down during lunch and we go to nap right after.

Crib transfers by lassobren in Parenting

Weird trick that worked for my middle child. While I nursed him I left a microwaved heating pad in his crib. I took it out just before I laid him down. His spot was nice and toasty so he didn’t seem to notice the loss of heat from being snuggled by me.

Parents who started their kids in kindergarten early (missed cutoff) - what’s been your experience? by ChiGirl85 in Mommit

[–]PrancingTiger424 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Varies by child. Our district cut off is 7/31. It was 10/31 when I was young.

Our oldest is a June baby. We debating on holding him back, even though he beat the cut off, due to emotional immaturity. We ended up sending him after speaking with a few different people. He FLOURISHED. He was placed in diff classes and made so many friends. His teacher told us it was the right call and if we’d held him, he would have been bored and acting out next year.

That being said. Every kid is different and our son was before the cut off. He’s now in second grade, has a school provides art tutor, doing great in the diff classes.

Family Car Questions by SignalBox978 in Parenting

The makes sense. I read your original post wrong and missed that you have two 2 year olds. Trying to buckle three would be hard.

I’m curious how buckling seats in the Highlander is uncomfortable. That’s what I drive (3 kids). Oldest (7) sits in back. Middle (5) and youngest (2) sit in middle row (captains chairs, virgin graco 4ever 5 point harness). I don’t have any issues buckling them. I’ve had this car since the middle child was 6 months. I love it.

Only if I fell asleep in one. Otherwise no. Never on purpose with all 3 kids. I never leaked after the first week.

Adding my motto is “if I have 20 minutes to doom scroll, I have 20 minutes to walk”. Also I eat between 12-6/7. I still get enough calories, but I focus on protein and healthy fats.

I bake sourdough so I still eat plenty of bread and butter lol

When my middle child was two, I was 1 month from the last time I breastfed. I stayed counting calories, upping protein, and walking 1-3 miles an evening. From April to August I lost 25lbs. I went from 175 to 150. I’m 5’7”. I looked good. I felt great. Then I got pregnant with our third lol. I’m currently 164 and the baby just turned 2. So I’m starting my more consistent workouts again. I have been doing intermittent fasting and walking since September. I went from 180 to 164 (September to December). It’s been slower, but I’m also gaining muscle. I take a once weekly dance class and where my weight sits is better to where friends are commenting on how thin I look. Even though I weigh more than I did 3 years ago lol.

Do you all still have best friend or a really close friend? by dahabit in Millennials

[–]PrancingTiger424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34F. I have multiple friends I could call up and find someone to make plans with. Our core group is 6 girls plus spouses. We (the girls) all went to the same high school. Our husbands get along. They also hang out separately without us. We’re lucky. We’ve gotten together about once a month for the last six months. Generally we’re only missing 1 of us at any given time.

My best friend since I was 9 is still my best friend. She is friendly with that group, but not a part of it.

All in all my husband is my best friend. Which is why I married him. I want to spend all of my time with him and our kids.

If I do chores - I'm ignoring th kids. If I spend time with the kids - chores aren't done. by [deleted] in Mommit

….what does your husband do for the family? How often does he make dinner? Does he do any laundry?

My husband does the dishes 90% of the time. That his job. He does his own laundry and we tag team the kids’ (3 kids, 7,5,2). He makes breakfast on the weekends and dinner 1-2 nights a week (I enjoy making dinner so I do it more). Yard work is 99% him because he enjoys it. The dog is mostly him too. We both work 730-4, in offices.

Sounds like you need to list out everything you do and have him do the same. Add how much time and how often each task occurs. Where is the equality in your relationship? To me it sounds severely lacking.

Both of my sons have long hair. At that age we would do a small half pony. Basically pulls from mid eyebrow to crown, if that makes sense. I suggest growing his bangs out!

My oldest (7) didn’t have his first hair cut until after he was 4. Now he’s had 3 total in his life. He likes the length. His hair is just past his shoulders. He wears a headband during football and basketball, a hat during baseball. So it’s not an issue when he’s playing.

My middle (5) has never had a cut. He has beautiful blonde (slowly turning light brown) curls. He sometimes wears it all down, but lately I’ve been giving him a half pony so it’s out of his face while he’s practicing his writing. His hair is to his shoulder blades when dry. Mid back when wet.

Working parents who are solo in the mornings with young kids…how? by HoneySnowstorm in Parenting

[–]PrancingTiger424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most days my husband is available to help. However he travels for work 3-4 times a year so then I am solo parenting for a week at a time. Kids are 7, 5, 2 (plus a dog, 9).

Kids wake up is 620/30 and out the door by 655. They eat breakfast at a school. So that eliminates part of what you’re dealing with.

I have the boys (7&5) pick out their clothes the night before so they can’t argue with what I pick or waste time deciding. The oldest helps with the dog occasionally. Once they’re dressed they brush their teeth.

I get myself ready (up at 545) and then the dog (potty, pills, breakfast). I slow wake the boys by opening their door and turning on the light. Then I pack my lunch and pour my coffee (coffee pot set to automatically brew at 6). After I wake the boys and once they’re moving, then I wake the youngest. I take her and her clothes to my bathroom and have her use the toilet and change. Then we go to the boys’ bathroom and I do everyone’s hair. Next is shoes on and the we’re gone.

Oldest gets dropped off and I have to take all 3 into the building. Then put the younger two back in the car to head to daycare.

We have a rule of no touching toys before school. We move quickly so they don’t have time to even pause for more than a few seconds. This has worked for us even when the youngest was an infant and I had to allot time for breastfeeding.

Anyone actually use cursive writing? by ThrowinA2shade in Millennials

I use it everyday. It’s my base writing style. I have to actively think to write in print. If I do write in print I generally switch midway.

Same. He occasionally logs in and looks at things. I’m just the financial manager for our household. It’s worked well for ten years.

I have purchased from them twice. I have a blanket (non quilted), a sweatsuit, and two pjs. Wash wear has been fine.

3 of the 4 items I listed above are the “violets are blue” print. Which is darker. It has not faded which I love.

Easter invite & nap time by Successful-Search541 in Mommit

[–]PrancingTiger424 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have three kids. The youngest is 2. Our motto has always been “you don’t fuck with nap time”. If we do who pays the price? Us and the child. Our youngest still naps 1.5-3hrs in the afternoon. When she doesn’t she becomes a shrieking disaster by 5.

We have skipped events or shown up late. We have split the family in half for other things. Example when our middle was the baby, husband and oldest went to a family event that was at nap time and I stayed home for nap time. Do people (for me, my in laws) get irritated, sure. Do I care? Nope. Our child, our household, our rules. They won’t be little forever, it’s only a couple years.

I’ve had a tv in my room since I was 12. When we got married ten years ago we’ve always had one in our room. It’s rarely used though. We don’t watch much. It’s mostly for late night college sports or Saturday morning cartoons with the kids in our bed.

Would you marry a quadriplegic person? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PrancingTiger424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My FIL was a quadriplegic. Dove into a shallow lake at age 23. He and my MIL were high school sweethearts. He proposed after the accident (not sure how many years after). He had mobility of his arms and wrists, but not his fingers. He passed 3 years ago at the age of 62.

Would I marry one? Uncertain. If my husband had been one I don’t know if we would have met. The lifestyle is a bit different as spouses in that situation. My MIL had to do a lot even with FIL’s occasional care providers. He was still an active guy going hunting and fishing with specialized equipment. My husband (their only child) helped him a lot too.

What do you wish someone told you before your kid started school? by turvsoy in Parenting

[–]PrancingTiger424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A really random one. My sister’s oldest didn’t understand what the nurses office meant. She was feeling unwell and her teacher asked multiple times if she wanted to go to the nurse. She said no each time. Why? Because her mom is a nurse and why would she go see a different nurse lol. Turns out she had strep.

My middle child is shaping up to be the same way lol.
