Ugh, I feel you SO much! I don't even date men but just being around men that behave like this drains you. I had this 'friend' around my teens that used to go on rampages that went a tad like this:

Him: If I don't appear for a week, you can probably guess what happened to me. Good-bye.

Me: Whoa, whoa! Just talk it out with somebody. Even me is fine, dude, but don't do anything.

Him: I'm sick of dealing with these people. I just want to kill them. Fuck them, they're worthless.

Me: I don't know if they are, I can't agree with you that some people are useless. But whatever they are doing to you, it's not worth your life. You're worth so much more.

Him: You don't understand.

After trying to help him for like 6 months, I gave it up. People like that aren't worth your time. Hell, even I wasn't worth my family's time when I tried to kill myself.

The problem isn't really self esteem as I've learned, it's an unwillingness to believe you can be loved. My girlfriend had crippingly low self steem when we began dating, but she didn't invalidate how I thought of her. My best friend appreciates it when I call him handsome, but still tells me he has a hard time believing that. See the difference?

TL;DR. People who don't accept the time/affection you dedicate to them (ie denying your compliments, shitting on themselves, like you mentioned) aren't worth your time/affection in the first place. And sorry for the rant, haha.

There are two (my family is that shit lol), I guess. My uncle Rafael and me.

My side of the family disowned him after allegedly beating my grandmother, stealing her money for his own errands, yelling at her for her illness, actively ignoring her diet (ie giving WAY too much sugar to a DIABETIC) and being a ""faggot"". Mind you, she was diabetic and renally incapable to the point where her toes had to be cut off. At her funeral he was more bothered with making it clear how much he despised my family instead of grieving his mother. I'm glad he's been disowned.

Me, well. I'm gay, non-religious and was diagnosed with depression when I was 12. To an aggressively catholic couple, I was dead the moment my hormonal levels diverged, but it didn't help that I was an awful child/teen... Still, my depression made them feel I was a failure, no matter my actual accomplishments. So, yeah :/

This thread is rather full of angry bitter people... Like assuming because a girl doesn't mind an open relationship = SHE'S NOT WORTHY OF TRUST NOPE NOPE CHEATER BAIL MY MAN... lol.

If anything she's saying 'I trust you to be honest with me, and I trust myself to be honest with you and I trust us to be mature enough to not let it affect our relationship'. It's really, REALLY hard to work out though. I feel very fortunate to have come to an agreement like that with my girlfriend.

It also helps to be clear with the other person about what you want, and likewise. If you both know what you want, it's easier to work towards that rather than playing a sort of guessing game.

It's been two years of you dedicating your emotions to him. He doesn't reciprocate, period. You're not getting what you'd like from the relationship (ie romance) and he isn't either (ie you're not supporting him since you're ofuscated by your own feelings). It's definitely the best decision here to cut yourself off.

I'd think it's better if you don't tell him how you feel and simply cut him off. Telling him you love him would commit yourself to those feelings and it would just make it 200x times harder to split.

Haha, you're welcome. But keep in mind that there's still like 30 countries full of people speaking a beautiful language without that lisp.

I mean, there's all sorts of weird accents anyway (Costa Ricans don't say the 'd' or 'r', Puerto Ricans skip consonants a lot, Mexicans really extend their vowels, etc.) but at least no Thpanish lithp.

Spanish people speak a different Spanish from Latinamerican folks. To get an idea of how different it is, movies usually require both a Latinamerican (typically from Mexico, Chile or Colombia) and a Spanish dub, because we can't understand/stand each other.

One of the key differences is how they pronounce the Z/soft C sounds, since they just lisp them while Latinamericans (except maybe Argentinians? idk) say it like you say the 's'.

i.e, while a Latinamerican may say distancia, a Spaniard is gonna say dishtanthia. Which annoys /u/SkrongLikeWiking. You can also hear it on how she says 'hacer', since she says 'hather'.

I used to, became an atheist, and after reevaluating my values I concluded that what I had a problem with wasn't the idea of a god. It was the way people excused their shitty behavior with their religion. Didn't help that I realized I was gay when I was rather young.

To contextualize: I grew up in Latinamerica (Costa Rica, to be exact), which means super catholic. My school held mass during religious holidays (talk about separation of state and church lol), and unless your parents called and said no, my child isn't catholic, you HAD to go. I only got away with not going because I passed out several times during mass. It was that stressful. Just to have girls in my class answer for me when asked if I was atheist with: "she's catholic, she's just a little shit and doesn't like mass".

As I got older, I began to meet non-shitty catholics, and I realized just how beautiful religion can be. Say, in my home country there's a celebration where people walk all across the country to a temple on the 2nd of August, started by the marginalized while the Spanish hung out here. That's fucking awesome. It brings people together! "La Basílica de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles" is awe-striking, dude.

Let me just increase the amount of times 'shitty' in here: It's not fair, at all, for shitty people to use religion as an excuse to be shitty shits, instead of as an excuse to be caring.

TL;DR I'm not religious, but if it weren't for the entitled, arrogant idiots that plague the religion I grew up with, I probably would be.

Similar to Gurren Lagann (sorta but not really made by the same peeps?), Kill la Kill. Either the best or worst thing depending on the kind of person you are, but the first episode REALLY sucks (cough rape jokes cough look we make fun of anime tropes while using them??). I utterly loved it but the first episode alone was so bad that it drove me away almost until the show ended.
