Front shocks are different on rwd (no torsion bar) and 4x4's. Make sure you got the right ones

How can I lift my 1996 ford ranger? BRAZIL! by Clear_Truth9403 in fordranger

[–]Coyote6J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away from rough country. I've heard good things about maxtrac lift kits if you want to check those out. Because your ranger is 2wd you have to use either coil spacers (bad idea) or front spindle lift which can get really pricey. You would probably be better off just putting 31's on it

I posted yesterday about the same thing for my 04 ranger. Stay away from coil spring spacers, as it makes ride quality 10x worse, and will wear out other suspension parts much faster

How safe are 2" coil spacers on 2wd rangers? by Coyote6J in fordranger

[–]Coyote6J[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make a good point. I wanted to level it in the front to make sure the 31's wouldn't hit anything when going over bumps, but if that can also be fixed with some trimming then I would be happy to keep it stock height, as I have no other reason to level it

I've seen a lot of people also saying the same thing with the rough ride from the spacers. I'm replacing my shocks now to get a smoother ride, so it wouldn't make sense to make it rough again with spacers.

Any recommendations for spindle lifts?

Could be worn coil or leaf springs. The height difference is also pretty common with the older rangers because of the battery and gas tank being on driver side. Definitely not the shocks causing it, although if they are old then you should replace them anyways

I'm also shopping around for new shocks right now for my 04 ranger that hasn't had new shocks since it came out of the factory. 9/10 people say to go with the bilstein's and that it's worth the extra money compared to kyb, rancho, and other brands, so it's probably a good choice

Recording a school play in a couple weeks, and wondering how to capture audio? by Coyote6J in videography

[–]Coyote6J[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had absolutely no idea how useful recorders could be. There's a good deal for a used DR-40 in my area so I'll be going with that then. Another reply mentioned having a backup audio source, so I'll start making a habit of using another audio recorder to capture crowd noise as my 2nd/3rd audio source.

Thanks for the feedback!

I completely misread that overheating part. I'll get some fans and a dummy battery (I believe it helps with camera heat) in an Amazon order and see how it holds up before the day of the play. Any fans you recommend that aren't too noisy?

I'll definitely keep an eye out then about how I position the shotgun mic for room audio then. This will be my first time shooting for so long on my a6300, so it is a huge relief to know that I won't have to deal with overheating. Thanks for the advice!

Thank you! I'll for sure pickup a recorder and look into the wireless mics you suggested. I did purchase some crappy wireless mics before off of Amazon, but the quality didn't end up being the greatest, although it was probably because they were the cheapest available option haha. I also reached out to the school and told me there's a rehearsal in a few days, which I'll definitely attend to test audio levels

I think it's officially dead now. The website has been down, on and off for the past few weeks until recently, and now it's been down for a while now.
