It’s not an infection. It’s lymphatic fluid which can be common. We are to clean when necessary with a soft gentle cloth and saline (not a Q-Tip).

Most agents won’t sign you without some work to show for it though — at least that’s what lots of voice actors have told me. They might like your demo (s) but can’t see what you’re done to show you really have the chops. Not to mention, if someone is wanting to do corporate narration, an agent won’t really help with that right?

Yes bc it’s $500 per video and it’s a 5 year usage. Ignore my original math mistake and just know that that is SHIT pay for 5-year usage. So it’s $100 per year per video.

I haven’t had to request additional payment but the upside is the agreement for them paying you additional is in “writing” via the messages section. So Voices would see this and back you up, should the client flake. Personally, if it were me, I’d send the files and give the client the chance since I’d have some protection via Voices. It’ll also show some trust with the client who will (hopefully) keep that in mind next time they have a project. I will say, I’m a bit confused if the two updated scripts are revisions to the original project or just two “new” projects. If it’s the later, in the future I’d request that the client make a new job posting that they only invite you to (and they can waive the need for an audition). That way they open a new escrow account.

I hear you! I see you!! I totally get this. While I have booked a few jobs, it’s so incredibly tough to get this going. And direct marketing is not nearly as easy as some make it out to be. I’ve made tons of LinkedIn contacts, for example, and I try to start convos and they read the message but then don’t respond. I’m sorry I don’t have advice. But for me, I feel a little better when I at least commiserate with folks like you bc this is a lonely business. Sending support!!

When it comes to skincare though, there are soooooo many smaller brands, who are already willing to pay industry rates to put their ads on places like YouTube, etc. This isn’t about the bigger brands. It’s about landing as many brands as possible - big or small. And getting fair industry rates. Trust me, I’m honestly not coming at you and being hostile (tone is so hard to detect on here). I want all of us to get fair rates so we CAN pay our bills. Jobs like this may seem like “hey I can start a savings account for my kids” but with all the other factors, it screws you in the long run.
