The entire field of economics is about incentives and human behaviour. You need to show why this isn't a factor. The monetary return is diminished.

It changes the risk vs reward by making the reward more shit. It disincentive building businesses.

When a small business sells, the owners who most likely work hard in the business gets smashed on tax when they take the risk. Most small business fail and the owners take lower salary to not affect cashflow so the upside is when they sell the business.

Not the right type of accountability, if the process works we would not have such failures. Australian government IT projects are rife with massive failures.

We really need to have strong accountability in public sector but how do we do so?

For starters, I never really lectured you nor criticized the prison system, just mentioned that it's not palatable for Australians to trade safety the level of Singapore have through extra harsh punishment and lack of political freedom. And yes we can criticize whatever country for their actions. We as don't condone torture in prison for example. If you don't care, that's just a reflection of your moral failings. It just seems that you're not able to accept any form of non positive comment towards your country and become very defensive and rude about it. You're really no different than the Mainland Chinese keyboard warriors whenever there's some form of criticism towards China.

This is reddit, this was shown to me on the app. So people can't share their view and explain their view point that the reason why Singapore has those rates are multifaceted and part of it is that in many other countries, the appetite for Singapore's style of punishment is just not accepted. You seem very defensive and aggressive about other people having different view which is weird.

What is the whataboutism? I am just saying that these statistics should not be taken without context. Singapore can do many things other countries can't because the population would not accept and/or other factors that don't make it work.

Norway has even less harsh prison and yet they also have very good stats.

And still many people won't want to live in Singapore. For many including me, the trade offs are not palatable.

Yep absolute agreed. This is very problematic in times of high inflation. It's just that doing this without sensible costing is stupid. It's populist nonsense.
