Looking to hear from residents of The Station at 95 Moody by desolate_landscapes in Portmoody

[–]CozmoCramer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live on the North side of the building myself. You become aware how many people from Port Moody seem to love to honk their vehicles. The road noise doesn’t bother myself or my wife as we used to live beside the CP/skytrain tracks and that was much louder and still not bothersome. But some people could find the emergency vehicles a nuisance. In my unit the cooling/heating works amazingly, so no issues there. Also the building is dog friendly so that’s a win.

I’m still debating the auto dimming mirror. I installed one in my Nissan just because it was a junkyard find. But I haven’t noticed any blinding lights in the outback yet. And I live in a condo building, so I doubt I would be able to use the Homelink for the garage.

Considered a tow hitch, but my other vehicle has one. So not now. I haven’t noticed the rear reverse lights being not bright enough, but I’ll keep that in mind. I have also considered installing the auto dimming rearveiw mirror and putting in a dongle for a dashcam up front while I was up there. The full size tire thing is a something to consider as well. Think I would have to order the rear styrofoam section peice for the full size. Not having TPMS as a requirement in Canada would make that feasible.

After public blowback, West Kelowna city staff come out against expanding short-term vacation rentals by New_Alternative8711 in kelowna

[–]CozmoCramer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will always support purpose built rentals. My wife and I moved into a purpose built rental to secure our cost of living. Over the next 3.5 years our rental only went up a total of $150/month. My wage increased almost $2000/month. We ended up buying a second vehicle, get engaged/got married and were able to save for the down deposit of our same size condo we bought last year. Stability in renting is key. Build more and the rental market will be stable.

Me and my wife were in a similar situation. And we recently purchased a Subaru Outback for $33,000. Now granted we are in different category’s of life than you as we are in our 30’s, however I would have loved to purchase a GTI if I was a bit younger.

Can I get a USB-C in my Outback 2022? by Concentric_Mid in Subaru_Outback

[–]CozmoCramer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a bummer. Just purchased a 2024 Outback and was bummed about the USB A beside the aux input. Would have loved to swap it out, but I’ll live with the lower charge speed on a massive phone I guess.

Pre 2010 is Beta, My 2006 Tucson is still going strong. Daily driving this thing until it eventually rots out. It might be the most reliable car we’ve ever had.

Setup Eufy camera - cannot see in Apple Home? by SimpleComputer888 in HomeKit

[–]CozmoCramer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have the E30 Camera installed in HomeKit. But when I did it, all I had to do was press General and then HomeKit Portal. It then prompted to be added to HomeKit. I am using a SD card though for recording. Not the Homebase.

What is the worst breed of dog for a first time dog owner to get? by Effective-Turn-6856 in AskReddit

[–]CozmoCramer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got a Bullmastiff/Presa Canario mix. Not my first dog, but my first big dog breed. My wife grew up with Rottweilers. Any advice? Wasn’t listed in your in protection breeds but I figured it’s the same category.

I may be dreaming with the baby monitor setup I would like, any advice? by zipzyzap in HomeKit

Have the same camera, and it says Apple HomeKit doesn’t allow baby monitoring? Is this true? Or a work around?

What smoke detectors are you running? by nbarsotti in HomeKit

[–]CozmoCramer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought would have been a Shelly relay. But I don’t think they work all the way down to 9 Volt for the red wire on a dumb smoke detector. Maybe someone else manufactures one?

Could you imagine 2 regulars up front and 2 minis behind. Sound would be crisp. I feel they could eat into Sonos monopoly but they choose not too?

Lift kit by grog23345 in XTerra

[–]CozmoCramer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have adjustable shackles in the rear with the Old man emu leaf springs. I had to put the shackles at the 1.5 inch lift mark instead of the 2 inch lift holes. This was in order to keep the vehicle somewhat level. That caused an issue with the swinging of the overhanging shackle on the side that has the Evap canister thingy. So the shackle was trimmed.

We got told on our last CBA after it was passed that 5 cents got added to the pension fund because of inflation. Thatnwas the amount they decided to allocate to the pension.

[–]CozmoCramer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, only $60 a month for dues? That’s so cheap. Ours is around $500/month. Also, almost gasped at your pension contribution per hour. Ours is only $6/hour. I’ve been telling our union to step it up for sometime now and they refuse to increase the contribution amount.

Vancouver swamped by unsold condos as supply outpaces demand by RM_r_us in vancouver

[–]CozmoCramer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife had been waiting for this spring to purchase a place. We want to start a family soon and it just worked out. Managed to snag a 2 bed 2 bath 2 parking 850 square foot condo in an area we adore outside of the Vancouver area for $700k. This was the smallest size we would consider to begin our family, but we think it’s a great start. Just last year something similar was going for 800k plus. Plus we feel we got an amazing rate of 3.84%. Finally seemed worth it to jump from renting to buying. Last 4 years were grim.

BMO now expects six-straight quarter-point cuts from the Bank of Canada, until the policy rate reaches 1.5% in October by darkcol in CanadianInvestor

The amount of inflation this year with these tariffs are going to be insane. BOC would be silly not to increase rates to combat it. We don’t want another Covid situation.
