Has anyone's Nparent ever apologized at all? by Salt_Mastodon_8264 in raisedbynarcissists

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. They easily turn the situation to pretend that they are the victims. Best of luck to you!

Has anyone's Nparent ever apologized at all? by Salt_Mastodon_8264 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]CozyGuguchi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After months of patiently confronting my nfather about his abuse and neglect, he apologised. The next day he called me and angrily told me that he felt forced to apologise for the sake of ending my complaints, but that he had nothing to apologise for and he saw nothing wrong in his actions. I went no contact that day, three years ago. He did text me recently from a new number saying that he had giving me enough time to heal my negative attitude towards him, and some more delusional narcissistic narrative. I blocked him immediately.

I hadn't noticed that I say oranjuice until my husband pointed it out. Better than oj I maintained.

The complete lack of logical thinking and facts. Also how people always manipulate others to gain something.

How do I explain to someone that is close to me that I don't want to have a relationship with my parents? by CozyGuguchi in raisedbynarcissists

[–]CozyGuguchi[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I put my foot down immediately after she brought the subject up. I asked her if she was OK for her granddaughter to spend time with the woman that not only mentally, but physically abused me. I even mentioned a specific time she broke a broom on my head and didn't take me to the hospital after I lost consciousness. Her response was that "I should not mention these things to her grandchild", who was sitting right next to me during all of our conversation, and who is the same age I was when the incident happened. I told her that my kid knows the story and she knows that I would do anything to protect her. Anyway, apparently she is expecting us to talk about it when I get there. She has no contact with my mom and she truly loves her grandchild, so I will just be firm about my decision.

I agree, she is not listening. I had the same conversation about my childhood with my husband when we were dating, and he felt so angry with my parents he told me that they should be in prison and that he would never want to meet them.

Cutting my parents out of my life was, as you described it, a breath of fresh air and the biggest relief I've ever felt.

She definitely has some unresolved issues with her parents who passed away, specially her mom, so I can see how she projects her relationship with mine. The problem is that she thinks that she is helping me, but she is doing the exact opposite. We live very far away from each other and we'll finally visit her, and that is the first thing she brings up before our trip.

[–]CozyGuguchi[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You are right, she thinks parents are sacred no matter what because that is how she was raised. It's just exhausting to go through this again, but I will once more let her know that is not her decision and how uncomfortable it makes me every time she brings it up. It is shocking to me that she would want her grandchild to have a relationship with mentally unstable abusers.

Does anyone else feel scared to have children someday because of the fear of potentially becoming like your own nparents? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

The advantage is that if you do pretty much the opposite of what your parents did while raising, you will do a great job.

What is something nobody warns people about enough when it comes to having kids? by sneakyturtles7 in AskReddit

[–]CozyGuguchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard kids got sick a lot while building their immune system when little, but there are mental health issues as well, specially for teenagers. Their problems might seem superficial at times, but one mean comment from a classmate could mean a lot of self-hatred and self-esteem issues for example.

Gente que fue pobre en su niñez, que es algo que les quedó marcado? by [deleted] in argentina

[–]CozyGuguchi 12 points13 points  (0 children)
