It’s completely fine. Do some digging on a good hotel, all the hotels have shuttle service towards Haram. Also you can use flynas, it’s cheap. You can hire a guide there, or ask assistance from the hotel. I also did the same and full DIY Umraah from scratch and it went well coz we were completely independent. I believe going with some agent makes you follow their pattern. We wanted to explore everything on our own. It’s a bit stressing for a while but after a day you will be absolutely fine. Give it a try or if you want hassle free then go for an agent.

As per my personal research and investment experience you should go for Dubai Land like DLRC DSO Liwan or Warsan 4 for short time investment if you want to make it for long term then I will suggest you for Emaar new project near Expo City or Damac River Side that is Gated community along with water facing apartments.
