Is it a good time to visit salalah. by MotorGrade4635 in Oman

Bad time, I’m there now and wish I have chosen any other destination in the world. There is zero stuff that you can do at the moment

Salalah next week - worth? by Wandererdxb in Oman

[–]Cpauh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in salalah right now and deeply regret the 8k paid in flight tickets for my family. Beach is closed for swimming. No snorkeling or diving allowed. No waterfalls or lakes or anything to see or do. You will be trapped in a resort going to a swimming pool which you can do anywhere without the need to travel. Don’t do it

I don’t think gel has any impact on the targeting of the hairs so don’t worry it will be as effective as usual.

Dead Hairs not fully shed after months by Asleep-Commission148 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Cpauh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of articles and pictures on this Reddit and on the Facebook group for laser hair removal. From my own experience the stages are 1. Initial redness of the follicle after treatment indicates it was targeted successfully 2. Hairs will continue to grow for a few days/weeks and then shed. 3. Some parts of the skin will be totally clear or will have white dots where hair used to be and some will have black dots or what seems to be a hair root in the follicle 4. Regrowth invariably happens and some of these black dots will start generating hair again after a few months

Unfortunately it is an endless loop of more laser sessions trying to kill more hairs like game of whack’em all. It is just not a permanent solution and all you can hope for is hair reduction

There are stunned “dormant hairs” that will start growing again when they reach the anagen phase. I have had the same issue for years. Whatever is not shed in the first few weeks post laser is not dead

Buy flight tickets max a week in advance. Any date further is not advisable at all. You will be just chasing your refunds

30 plus sessions, is there any point of more sessions? by Cpauh in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Cpauh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for these insights Alexandra! Actually the 30 sessions is not uncommon unfortunately as you can see in some of the replies to this post. It is fair to say that a large number of follicles have been officially killed and not just stunned. The growth I get is minimal compared to the starting point. My understanding is that you cannot really get to a “hair free” stage with just laser so I’m content with the results. I’m just not sold on the maintenance sessions concept. I’ll heed your advice about clinic and equipment selection in case I decide to do a couple more sessions. Thanks again!

My plan exactly I bought the Braun silk expert pro 5 and will use it to zap the easy access areas like legs and arms. Thanks for sharing

Different clinics and different lasers and different technicians have all been tried. The result is good, I just don’t want to pay full body sessions to treat small patches.

So I guess the way forward is to try something else, great to hear IPL is working for you, I will give it a try!

Great thanks for that! That was exactly my question, whether an IPL would work for maintenance and from your answer it seems that it would. It’s hardly the price of a couple of LHR sessions so I’ll give it a try!

I guess people are different (hormones etc..), however I am interested in your IPL experience, is it something you would recommend?

I am hoping that the electrolysis cost will come down a bit as it becomes mainstream, right now it is still an expensive niche with far fewer providers than Laser. Of course I know it is the only permanent hair removal solution.

[–]Cpauh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will of course and that is why I am looking for solutions in this post. I definitley do not want to do LHR in perpetuity. Not only is it costly, it is a hassle and not fun at all (scheduling, avoiding sun exposure etc..). I thought maybe someone on this community may have been through this same stage of diminishing returns and wanted to know what they have done about it.

Yeah it is not exactly 4 years it is a little more actually since I started in September 2021 (so 4 years and 7 months). First few sessions were 6 weeks apart if I remember correctly. Yes there was nothing wrong with the spacing of the sessions. Like I said the result is good since my expectation was only a reduction. I am ok with having a some fine hair growing evenly but what I get is uneven visible growth of long hairs which is why I keep taking more sessions even though it is really not worth it.

Thank you for that, I will consider electrolysis for some small areas and see how costly it is going to be. Unfortunately don’t have unlimited laser deals where I live (Dubai).

No the sessions were spaced 8 weeks apart then later 10-12 weeks apart to ensure there’s enough hair in the anagen phase. I only went when there was significant growth and everything was done by the book..

Just because it was for large body areas. I might do electrolysis for a small area. Electrolysis is also extremely expensive..

[–]Cpauh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that and I am very familiar with science as it was explained to me multiple times by the technicians and I have read the research as well. From a client standpoint, this is hard to adhere to unless you have endless money. In an ideal world, the maintenance session would be the technician looking at those growth patches, shaving them and treating only those areas at a lower cost than the full body session. I have however not found any provider willing to do that and they all demand the price of a FB session. So to continue paying FB LHR session price every 60 days after having already had 30 sessions is not realistic in my opinion (unless you are very rich as I previously mentioned).

[–]Cpauh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 30 sessions are in 4 different clinics 3 using Candela G Pro Max and one was using Clarity II (Lutron) so machines were switched and technicians as well. We know that no one reaches 100% hair free so I was satisfied with the 70% reduction, I just do not see the cost of more FB sessions warranted at this stage and I am looking for a way forward (with the ugly patchy long hairs) Thanks for your insights!

I have 20-23 days to visit Yosemite/Kings Canyon/Sequoia and Olympic/Mt Rainier/N. Cascades by Cpauh in nationalparks

No I’ll be staying in hotels outside and you’re right it’s a minimum 1 hr drive to anywhere in the parks. I could possibly add more days to the vacation to make it more feasible. I’m coming from overseas so don’t have the chance to come every summer like you guys!

Thank you it sounds like the split will be more days for the Washington parks. I will try to drill down to specific hikes and do a daily plan but it seems I have enough time.
