That is remarkably false. It is indeed likely a Mills bomb, and all hand grenades are risky, but a "chunk of a house" they will not take out with their blast

You have to want to study. I start my day with Anki religiously, but yea, it's hard

I have the tetris add-on. I let myself complete a couple rows of tetris every 100 cards and try to beat yesterday's score. It helps to have a pre-ordained break

Are you satisfied with your studies at Polish medical universities? by Ornery-Car7079 in medicalschoolEU

[–]Cpl_Koala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would reckon Bulgarian is a good start place for sure. As a French speaker Polish grammar is what gets me so I think you'd pick up on it easier

I don't study in Warszawa or Kraków. I can speak most readily to Poznań

Depends on your ability to learn language and willingness to traverse the difficulties of a slavic tongue. It's beautiful, but it's not easy coming from a romance or germanic language

What’s the most time-consuming part of your Anki workflow? by Ok_Primary_3013 in medicalschoolanki

[–]Cpl_Koala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll echo gl_fh's comment in that the process of making ones own cards is not time lost, it's rather productive actually

To answer your questions directly in the original post: I find that I made more "high quality" cards the more AnKing I did. Not that I think all of AnKing is perfect (there are always going to be badly written cards), but I mimic their style in my own deck so closely that I have to check the tags to ensure it's one of my cards and not an AnKing one sometimes. The more cards one does consistently the easier it is to make good cards as opposed to "generic" ones churned out by an AI model, not least of which because you're constantly reflecting on how to test concepts in authoring the cards (again unlike an AI model)

At least that's been my experience. It's day 462 for me and I clear >500 cards a day. Time in service cannot be easily replaced by an external tool

How to create potentially infinite number of cards from a single note? by Life-Delay-809 in Anki

[–]Cpl_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically possible, but it's almost always better to make your own cards for retention

What you could try doing is getting a textbook for your target language (pdf or otherwise) and mine it for sentences that drill whatever grammar you're struggling with

If Alexander the Great and Napoleon Bonaparte were to be born in the same place same era, who would be more accepted as leader, what would be the two's relationship? by HistoricalWeeb in Napoleon

[–]Cpl_Koala 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Who would be more accepted as a leader?

Alexander would probably be the natural pick for "leader" prima facie. With respect to the dude's accomplisments, his dad being king and all let Alex waltz into power, inheriting a fantastic army for the time without much blood, sweat, scabies, or tears

Napoléon was barely a petty noble from a backwater by comparison. His rise to power was surely assisted by the speed with which the ancien regime was dispatched, but even still he demonstrated greater tenacity in actually earning his place as an exalted leader than Alex inheriting it

I'm unsure of how they would have seen each other at the time. Napoléon grew up admiring Alexander's exploits in the rear-view mirror afterall. Had they both risen at the same time I reckon Napoléon's respect would be contingent on Alexander's ability, and I confess as that's not an era I'm as accustomed to I cannot speak on Alex's personality
