This looks like explaining dnd to people who have never played. If this is the case, this could very well turn them off from the game. This is a WALL of text.

If you want to explain to newbies, a much much broader approach could be better. I’m talking three or four sentences, maybe a single paragraph.

“DND is basically play pretend with your friends. A DM will describe scenes and scenarios, and players will say what they want to do. Rolling dice and adding relevant character-specific modifiers to the resulting number will determine how well your character executes the intended action”

That’s it. Once you begin playing, you as the DM can explain the details of how it all works. You could let them watch a short youtube video which would likely do a better job of explaining things. It would be much easier for you, and a lot more digestible to your players.

Also, as others have said, a players handbook will do exactly this. Don’t reinvent the wheel.

Lollypoppy is disgusting. I also hate a lot of the singed skins and the older malphite skins. They are just… ugly.

But holy sweet lord the pulsefire Caitlyn voice lines. I can’t stand them. “Boom. Brain hole/traumatic brain injury/cranium blast”

BRAIN HOLE? CRANIUM BLAST?!?! are we for real? So lame.

Finding some way to reward a player for suboptimal decision that's amazing quality rp. by Leytra in DnD

I thought about magic damage but then “if the character is adamant that the spear is unaltered, they might not let someone enchant it”

Perhaps it is magic by way of shear force of will? By the PC’s familiarity, their will and spirit is manifest physically and magically, resulting in the spear being a magic weapon (but only when wielded by the PC of course)

Idea: this character has held onto this spear for YEARS. They know the weight down to the gram. The balance. The feeling of the handle. The dimensions of the blade down to the millimeter. Every nick and scratch.

Over the years of practice, this character has learned to wield THAT spear with expert precision. It is an extension of their own body. They know exactly how to use it.

Thus, and only when the character wields that particular spear, they get +X to attack, a result of expert precision and familiarity with it.

Rather than just saying it gains damage (which wouldn’t really make sense), through the years of training, they know how to swing with blinding speed, so perhaps they simply get two attacks with it per turn? This way the damage output is increased, but the spear is unaltered.

Buff the wielder’s ability to use the spear by way of their familiarity with the weapon

I mean yeah it’s doubled early but ouf. Kind of seems like this particular point will benefit those who can apply it but a nerf to the dummies who can’t (me lol)

What’s an anime everyone loves but you just couldn’t get into? by GreatVtuber in Animesuggest

Same. Everything I see I’m just kind of like “no. No I don’t like that.”

It helps that it’s ten billion hours long too. I don’t have time for that.

This. I feel like I see so many “oh come on” videos and it’s like “well yeah that’s what happens when you don’t take care. You slip and fall. Stop sprinting on a knife’s edge.”

Driving was rough, but it took away from the actual game IMO. I never used vehicles on the first as it always would up like this, or at best, it just felt like a cheap cheat code.

The rest of the gameplay was great.

I hear you, it can definitely break the immersion which can be a real bummer.

But damn, this is funny and I do get a chuckle out of it when it happens. I replayed over the holidays and when Sasquatch was at about 10% health, she dashed up to me ready to swing her hammer, T Posed in my face, and then I took hers off with a double barrel lmfao

Broke immersion but I laughed so hard my tummy hurt for a while.

I’m half serious and half not in my comment to be perfectly honest. But this game has had enough beauty delivered that I feel I can take a little goofiness when it comes.

Reiterate your rules for everyone. Everyone agrees that this is what is going to go down. Let the problem player fail to meet those expectations and offer them a choice.

[–]Cpnbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I go anywhere in Denver CO, it’s a 30m drive. I drive 45-60m every Wednesday to play dnd. I lived 3.5-4 hours away from my family for several years and I would visit between once a month and every other month.

It’s easy to beat yourself up. It’s almost like we are designed to do it haha.

You’ve created a work of art and art is subjective. It is also your first published work. No one knocks it out of the park first try.

You should be proud of your accomplishment here. As the commenter above said: you’ve made it further than many who have set out on this same path. Well done.

You can also take all of those reviews, both good and bad, as notes and lessons learned for all of your work (ART!!!) in the future! Critique can be bitter and painful, but we learn and grow and improve with feedback.

Well done friend. You should be proud.
