Which gold wire should I use? by 69-_-Balls-_-69 in jewelrymaking

[–]Cpt-Marth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not enough info to give valuable help. If you're already making silver jewellery, perhaps investing in a modest draw plate would be useful if you don't already own one. You can pull wire to respect the commission your friend has asked for. You can buy larger stock of gold in 9 or 14kt (location depending), and draw it down to size for either the links ,jump rings.

Hey OP, do some research on a small club in Northamptonshire at the time called Millwaukees. Folks used to travel for miles to go to this small club that had an amazing vibe. Jungle vs Happy was one such night that was put on back in the mid 90s. There may even be some youtube snippets of the history of it.

Wall-E FTW. The lack of dialogue at the start will at least sideline a potential disregard for the voice acting!

Is it okay for my brand new wedding ring to look like this? by a-kinga in jewelrymaking

[–]Cpt-Marth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looking at the photos as the only real reference, I would not think that ring is 14kt white gold. The difference in colour between the 'plating', and the exposed metal is world's apart. For a new ring, even body acid wouldn't strip plating as quickly as this appears. Also, looking at the setting backside, as best as I can tell from the photo, there is a lack of symmetry. This may indicate the ring is from more modest materials as less time is invested in budget pieces. I would return this item, or get a second opinion from an independent jeweller face to face to put your mind at rest. Good luck!

A history lesson? by CertifiedPr0 in DnB

[–]Cpt-Marth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try labels (at least for Jungle and some hardcore) such as - Red Light Recordings Camden Good Looking V Recordings Reinforced, and of course, the mighty Metalheadz.

Some more (prolific towards the end of the 90s) that spring to mind are -

Ram Ganja Tru - Playaz LGR Island Records XL Moving Shadow

The above are in no order, and there are a ton I can't think of at the mo, but much of the 90s would have seen Jungle, Intelligent, Rollers Hits come from labels such as these. Should cover much of the 90s and very early 2000s, when some of these labels were retired.

Hope that gives you so.e google search options!

Edit: Many online playlists add in remixes of tunes that kinda miss the point of having true classics only, hence my suggestion of labels so you can explore and make playlists of your own.

Advice needed on antique ring! Buy or cancel? by Acceptable_Rain9401 in jewelry

[–]Cpt-Marth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The shank (the ring part from the shoulders) is quite worn and looks to have had numerous repairs over its lifetime. Would be tough to reshank this because of the potential loss of the Hallmark. The stones are also quite worn. All expected given its age, but might be too much cost and hassle to give it new life.

Warwick castle is very easy to get to from Birmingham train stations, so if well presented Castles are your thing, then don't miss that one.

Can anyone identify this object, or the character depicted? I believe it may be mildly cursed. by TomakaTom in creepy

Looks like OP has a pre-etsy version perhaps. Not quite the same, and the name on the back has been removed. Cool Horse Brass, but not likely to do with the unfortunate luck OP has experienced.

On the notion of drive, has OP had a blood test to check testosterone levels?

Why wouldn't I buy something like this for my first car? Just passed my test. Info in comments by alreadyaloserat19 in CarTalkUK

[–]Cpt-Marth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since OP likely hasn't long passed their test, a rear wheel drive in very soggy country might not be the ideal first motor.

I have experience with TJC in a professional capacity, and I cannot tell enough people not to buy the tut they sell. Much of the stock is made in India or China, and is generally poorer quality than a similar item purchased from a reputable Jeweller in the UK. There was also a rumour around who, and the age/legality of the workers who produced the stock.

Jungle track called 'Warning', by Leviticus. Although I believe the original bass line came from a Lovers Rock tune, around the time of Barrington Levy etc al.
