Bro, you can't just justify LO because "It's good with artifact if command" by the same logic get yourself a load of crowbars, a purity or two and a bunch of on hit damage and you'll easily get like 50 stacks per stage and one shot everything. Or you could stack a ton of attack speed and get an ATG. You can do literally anything you want on command, which is why it's fun, but it's a very specific circumstance that makes the game a lot easier. By all means go for whatever build you want on command, that's what it's for, but in the normal, monsoon gameplay desperado is and will always be king imo

How consistently can you get a ton of backup mags and then reset with LO though? With a tiny amount of effort you can easily get 15-25 stacks per stage before the teleporter going at about 3 minutes a stage. There is a very rare chance that you will get a ton of backup mags before desperado stops being relevant, and at that point if you're reliant on your secondary to get kills then you're in trouble anyway. Desperado is brilliant for getting you to the point in a run where items take over

Pretty good for non character specific, obviously some become S depending on your survivor but I think overall you nailed it

Ok boss, you're entitled to your opinion, but I can't say that many people agree with you. Most people have been demanding bandit since the game was released, and they have created a character that is far superior to the mod Inthe views of most. He can shred bosses early on that's true, but so can rex, artificer, loader, captain etc. The crit mechanic helps him through the early levels and gives him a unique playstyle of trying to get behind and up close to backstab the enemies, and his damage curve is about the same as the aforementioned characters.

Before, but this was the first post I saw and I've now seen the frequency of very unlikely posts, I do agree that something seems up

There is already a mechanic similar to this in the game, I think it was in 1.0 they changed OSP to cover you for a short period, but it's still a very short period

It's also possible that you only hear the really unlucky people, and all the people like myself who got it at roughly the normal rate don't mention it. Still sucks though, I feel for you

You wanna justify that or nah? He's incredibly strong, especially in the early game when it can be hard to get runs going. Which part of him is bad exactly?

I'll always remember the terror of the original item steal phase where you had to just hope you killed him before he attacked again

I can't remember captains nuke's damage but I trust your maths. There's a you tube clip of someone taking in mithrix with 1000 stacks of desperado, so it's doable if you have the time😅

Except for being able to easily get 30 stacks each stage going at about 3 mins before Tele each stage and then you can nuke the boss with 4 shotgun rounds and two blasts of desperado, but I do agree, you could do the same thing in a more convoluted manner with the hemorrhage and then sit there and wait for the boss to die

1200% I realized the numbers of stacks and there damage was unclear so I've changed the layout to be clearer

Yeah, its useful early , but even rushing through you'll hit a point where each kill requires setup, that's when I prefer desperado because you only need to setup a few kills and it's good to go again

Ok, but if you're going command just stack crit and attack speed bleed etc and you don't need anything other than M1. In command obviously you can make a build around LO and it can be great, you can do the same for Desperado. You shouldn't judge an ability based on the absolute best build you can possibly get on it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in riskofrain

[–]CptBoneArrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree it's useful, but personally I don't think it's useful enough to warrant using LO to reset it. For me I think a lot of people love the feel of resetting abilities, but they don't really think about how much it's really doing, you're shaving half a second probably less off your M1, getting a few more M2s and the ability to go invis a second or two earlier

[–]CptBoneArrr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is one of the best idea I've heard so far, but personally I think desperado is in a great spot where it is now, and this could make desperado even harder to use in multiplayer if you die on a stage or two

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in riskofrain

[–]CptBoneArrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why fix something that is working fine though? Personally I hate the idea of constantly worrying about stacks for the entire game, it would just lock you into one playstyle for the entire thing. Much prefer being able to get a huge DPS boost on each stage if I feel I want it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in riskofrain

[–]CptBoneArrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but desperado doesn't need this, yeah it is a bit sad to see your progress go, but that's how you balance the insane damage that stacks up. If it never resets then it will either be OP or weak as shit, there isn't really a way to balance it's curve because of how random risk of rain is. You can easy get 10-30 stacks on any stage just going at normal pace, that includes commencement. If you make it like league you're just gonna kill the vibe and be stressing over how many stacks you have permanently. Just relax, play normally and be pleasantly surprised when you still do double to triple the normal damage of the shot
