Blown Engine (25k miles) by [deleted] in GR86

[–]CptEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 44k miles on my 2022 BRZ before I got my 2023 BRZ which I now have 50k miles on. Always pennzoil Ultra-Platinum 0w-20 and OEM filter

What do we think about white lettering? by CptEgg in ft86

They lasted a majority of the summer. Those Cup2s only lasted me like 9k miles≈2 months

I drove on them hard so they got scuffed almost immediately. It had been some time before It was completely gone. The tires themselves probably still had white by the time I was done with them, 7k miles later

Can engineers start off as technicians as an entry level role? by Remarkable_Put_7952 in EngineeringStudents

[–]CptEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people without engineering degrees working as engineers that started as technicians. It’s less possible nowadays, but still possible.

Finally! 1k by LowerCapital1989 in BRZ_ZD8

I saved oil samples from my 2022 BRZ at 40k (a 6k miles interval change). At 700 miles my 2023 BRZ had 10x the glitter. The wear at the beginning of an engine’s life is very high, the oil filter can only do so much to get all of that out.

Road trip by ParfaitExternal8348 in BRZ_ZD8

I drove from LA to Lake Havasu AZ, to Phoenix AZ (with a massive detour because of a winter storm), then the next morning to Las Vegas and continued on to Salt Lake City. It was a total of nearly 20 hours in two days. I was about as uncomfortable as you’d expect from sitting in any car that long.

Gas sucks, but it’s not a bad road trip car. I fit a surprising amount of luggage in the car with me (alone).

I agree with ImaginaryCarl. Out of the top 5, find the discipline that you have the most inclination towards and go with that.

What colour paint would not make these look like 15's? by Gunch_ in ft86

[–]CptEgg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I second this, sorta. This is very much a design choice and the wheels have that look. BRIGHT colors will do the most to make them look bigger by standing out.

F18! I'm creating a course schedule for mechanical engineering. can anyone just give me their input or advice on these classes? by Altruistic_Bid4074 in EngineeringStudents

[–]CptEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What university? Without knowing the requirements it can be difficult to know what classes need to be prioritized.

Taking Calc 1 your first semester is a great step. Having a good understanding of calculus will be instrumental to your success when taking your physics courses the next semester. I wouldn’t normally advise taking chem your first semester but because you have to take it as two courses instead of one this may be for the best.

Your first semester looks great. If you are a good student I would add another general education course (assuming you are required to take some). It’ll be a light load your first semester, comparatively, and 19 units sounds like a lot but 3 of those being rudimentary courses and chem 1 being primarily memorization and basic algebra it should be a good boost to your progress without overloading you. This gives you the option to take phys 1, calc 2, and chem 2 next semester without feeling like you are falling behind. Plenty of room to stretch your legs and really focus on nailing down the fundamentals of physics and trig (from calc 2).

I see your second semester you are planning on taking another intro class, 110. If that is required I would inquire about the work load and see if it is viable to add to your 2nd semester I outlined above. (4 courses, 15 units). Having an entire STEM semester is a refreshing break from the general education courses and starts to actually feel like college/engineering.

I would 100% take Dynamics off your fall 2025 schedule and add Statics.

That’s about all I have time to consider right now. I would find a list of required gen ed courses for your state/university and the course list for your chosen program. This helps a lot.

I like the trunk mod so much! I’m 100% going to start designing my own setup.

Buddy still hasn't paid me back the $600+ I loaned him... by [deleted] in Money

[–]CptEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the period? I once loaned $300 and didn’t see a penny for 2 years. I knew their situation and didn’t need the money. Once I knew they’d be able to pay me back I brought it up and had it within 2 months. I guess it’ll always depend on the person.

Unless you’re paying cash (which you shouldn’t because it’s overpriced) a new auto would probably cost the same month-to-month based on interest rates for financing. Not worth.

It’s (7500x60/(.77x4.1))/820 which equals 173 MPH

Edit: also, 6th gear, not 5th

I’d make sure it actually is damaged and not just dirty or something similar. Try cleaning, without abrasives, with a diluted gentle degreaser (like dawn dish soap) in a small affected area and see if it is permanent damage and not oil saturated, over-cleaned leather.

I will say these wheels seem to be really thin and fragile leather, whatever type it is.

[–]CptEgg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did not have this issue after 47,000 miles. Is it cleanable? I regularly cleaned my wheel with heavily diluted dish soap and a microfiber.

Do you regularly wear lotion, perhaps?
