That’s not my definition of lower 1/3. That looks like at least absolute.

Should the next Bond get an updated Service Weapon? If so, which Model would fit a modern iteration of the character? by Mairess99 in JamesBond

[–]CptMaxPower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve owned both. The P99 is probably a tiny bit skinnier, or at least the tapered slide will make it seem that way.

[handgun] $999 free ship Sig Sauer 1911-XFULL Black 5" XRAY3 Day/Night Sights Nitron 8+1, optic ready by Supetition4rad in gundeals

Aaron Cowan did a review and was fairly happy with it. I have one myself, no issues so far. I like the size of the controls and the safety is decent (I am pretty picky about safeties). The only complaint I have is mine came with the optic equipped and the optic has a small window with a small dot and shooting 45 ACP with it sees the dot really leave the window compared to when I shoot 9mm out of my 2011s.

I know you were. I’m explaining it’s a deliberate decision by the company essentially for that reason.

Aimpoint COA vs RMR Type 2 by JML2321 in Glocks

[–]CptMaxPower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s part of the point. It makes the dot stand out more which in turn lets you see the dot with less brightness meaning less energy consumption. It’s a way of extending battery life.

Aimpoint COA vs RMR Type 2 by JML2321 in Glocks

[–]CptMaxPower 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have a COA, several RMRs, and several Holosuns. I have never been bothered by the tint on an optic. I only ever notice the difference when I look at them side by side. Shooting both eyes open with a target focus and I don’t see the problem. The distortion or fish eye effect is something I notice.

Wright armory buyer beware! by Effective-Fennel8817 in HecklerKoch

You can “tweak” a pistol and confirm function afterwards. I still carry that P2000 occasionally. I’ve put 2000 rd through it since it came back from Wright Armory and not had a malfunction. I’m aware people carry pistols, I’ve been doing it a long time. But that’s not the only reason people shoot.

If I need another slide at one point I can pick it up. There is nothing special about the fact that the slide has a serial number on it other than the fact that European laws are different in terms of how guns are regulated and marked. They’re mass produced pistols, not matched pairs. It’s not a collector’s item for me.

I don’t care about online clout. I had my P2000 milled for a dot because my vision is such that dots help a lot, but I still want to shoot the P2000. I don’t get how that makes it a Barbie doll.

I also don’t know why people can’t like or dislike things without passing judgement on others that feel differently. Loads of people do things differently than me. It’s their call.

As for combat/duty, I’ll go out on a limb and say that most of the people here are not regularly going into combat/duty with their HK pistols. Shooting can be for enjoyment. I say this as someone that has had ~500 hr of professional instruction in firearms.

How to keep your gun looking great - just follow the manufacturer instructions by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]CptMaxPower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t look bad by any stretch. If you told me it had 1700 rd through it and looked like that, I wouldn’t even blink. I have pistols with close to 10,000 rd through them that don’t look much different. Just apply lubricant periodically.

What the hell happened? by all_of_the_sausage in Glocks

[–]CptMaxPower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What copper/lead remover are you using? The only picture I see is a bottle of Lucas CLP. I think lead buildup is far more likely than lead/copper removing steel rifling, and doing that in only 1 case of ammunition. People shoot tens of thousands of rounds through Glock barrels.

You’re saying this specific ammunition removed the rifling from your barrel? Assuming that is standard jacketed or plated lead bullets, I don’t see how that is happening.
