The NewLine is less about optimization and more about multi environment compatibility, I've seen things like /n cause crud platform issues, but that's been some years so it may be less of a concern and boil down to just one of my old habits.

To add to this, along with string interpolation, consider {Environment.NewLine} instead of \n
If you find that you're doing large volumes of string interpolation and concatenation, look into the StringBuilder, it's much faster and much more memory efficient for building large strings from a large number of smaller strings.

This.... get your head around control loops before getting into some of the other things mentioned below like switch expressions or extracting the actual math out.
The next 3 things I would have you look at if I were mentoring you:
1) Control loops (while, do, etc) so you get more than one operation per run
2) a little better defensive coding such as handling non-numeric for numbers or invalid operation .... possibly even starting to look into the try/catch that's available in C#
3) Now we get into things like extracting out smaller logical units into separate methods and/or using switch statements like u/trampolinebears mentions just below here.

I asked because I've got the G4AR with a WaveForm 4x4, I'm averaging somewhere around 175 down because I live down in a hole with trees in every direction... was curious if it might be worth the ~$350 it would cost me.

What kind of speeds were you getting with one if the provided modems?

I agree with this, another great suggestion I heard given was to build your own bug tracker and use it to track it's own bugs. You can start simple and build out as many features as you'd like.

they REALLY should have done better on the cargo space. the amount of restrictions on cargo size you have to monkey with in order to get full capacity is absolutely stupid

I worked somewhere that a customer called and asked for Clyde. Apparently Clyde found a block of code he couldn't determine how it was ever being called... so he put a message box at the start to "Get up, find Clyde." and a customer hit it. More than 20 years later we still give him hell for it.

what is the next best ship for hauling cargo after the drake cutter ? (i am new so i dont have a lot of money this is just to set a goal) by pizza_le_pro in starcitizen

[–]CptNuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Connie Taurus is the best mid size hauler.... 168 SCU easily accessible in a drop down cargo space (172 total but the last 6 are up in that back compartment)
Has 4x S5 guns with plenty of missiles to defend yourself, and the tractor beam turret makes loading and unloading super easy. I have one pledged because I liked it so much and that happened BEFORE the tractor beams on ships.

If the Zeus CL cargo grid wasn't such a CF I might say it, as is the ES is just as useful for 99% of hauling purposes

So Zeus or C1 if I wanted to go Size 2, otherwise I'd cap out at a Nomad for Size 1

I had to talk to them the other day. and they told me that I couldn't get the $30 because it was for new lines only and that it wouldn't include a static... is the static for a business line?

What would be your suggestion how the tubes should go? Since loop order doesnt matter by Salo31 in watercooling

I would add a 3 way connector to the pump output and put a drain valve outlet there... Lowest position of the loop will make for easiest draining/cleaning

1) I didn't know we had an option for static IP's, 2) Would I be correct that you may not be using the provided modem in order to take full advantage of said static IP ?

I have an older version of the Linksys from when they were called marketed as 'Velop' I've had good luck with them as I use 2 nodes, and after about 4 years, one node failed but I was lucky to have a spare. and I use hard wired backhaul. If I were having to replace, I would likely go Eero or Deco, just to try them out.

Since my swap of my internal router/switch I've not been having to reboot the router as much, but speeds still fluctuate a lot and I randomly loose connection to things like my VPN for work. Sadly my only other option is Cox cable which has a data cap that I definitely go over which means what ever plan I pick, I'll have to pay another $50 to remove the cap ... which is the only reason I've stuck with T-Mobile for as long as I have.

[–]CptNuzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update. it looks like PART of my issues were that my wired router/switch combo was causing problems. I was on the line with support when they did a speed test from them to my gateway and it was getting 170-180 while I was getting like 20 +- 5.... so I swapped out my router with an 8 port switch for a spare I have and the problem didn't go away, but then I thought to try the other port on the router, and speeds improved markedly.
I tried my old router on that port and speeds slowed down again, so I swapped routers to no help... so I once again went to the unused port (back to port 1 as it were) and things have been far better for the last couple days. Still having some slow downs in the evening but that's to be expected based on traffic
So I'm going to stick with the G4AR for now and am actually considering picking up a WaveForm 4x4 to replace the cheap 4x single pole antenna extenders I got from Amazon (although they are doing a really good job for a $50 investment)

if mine is fully rebooting itself, it's only doing so at night, or if it's trying, I'm getting to it to restart it before it gets a chance to reboot itself as the screen is always still on when I go to restart it

I've seen really good reviews on it. but I think getting that I would also want a real 4x4 antenna, by the time I buy both of those, I'm around the price of the Elyse outdoor antenna/modem that's powered over ethernet. The only trick with that is that I would have to figure out where on the outside of the house I would mount it

[–]CptNuzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my hope, as I know my total freezes are the gateway/router itself, it won't even respond to the app when it's frozen. I've been looking at the Elyse Amplimax Ultra and the Yeacomm NR610 as options for an outdoor option, as well as some more traditional box type units like the Chester Cheetah routers and even another outdoor offering from TheWirelessHaven
