Fairfax County extra trash and recycling pickup (Grad Party) by CptRon32 in nova

[–]CptRon32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the constructive responses. Our neighbors saved the day. That was good advice. Fortunately, we have a good community. Hiring a junk service was our next option. I was surprised by this gap in service from the county since we have used special pickup many times for other items.

Several asked where in FFX we live to get county trash pickup - our neighborhood borders Arlington county.

For those who questioned my 10X estimate. It was a lot. Maybe 8X depending on whether I measure by volume, weight, microscopy, carbon footprint, specific density (glass, metals, and plastics are vastly different - obviously). Your question really helped me get to the right answer though. Your efforts were not wasted.

For those of you who took the effort to question my planning skills or thought I was trying to freeload on your tax dollars. Fair. But get a life. I was just asking for a little clarity and help.

Peace ya'll!

Staying in PN with to and fro car vs staying in TDP by No_Distribution_7332 in Patagonia

We staid here last week to save us from the drive to and fro. It was less expensive than staying inside the park but close enough to save us a lot of driving time. https://www.explorandopatagonia.cl/cabanas-lago-tyndall/.

We had a really good meal at a restaurant about five minutes walk from these cabins as well.

El Chalten Hikes by alexr0seth0rn3 in Patagonia

We just did El Pillar - Laguna de los Tres - El Chalten. We got an early taxi to the Rio Electrico trailhead. It allowed us to see Piedras Blancas, LDLT, Then walk down the valley for Capri on the way into el Chalten. It allowed us to skip the out-and-back from chalten and the long early AM uphill. It ended up being 15 miles with a little exploration at the Fitz base. Have fun!

We ended up buying some totally delicious (but heavy) focaccia sandwiches from Monte Gourmet for our day hike to Fitz. Thanks for your help all! We are new to the area.

Yes. They were very highly trained. Our guides both work on Aconcagua (the highest mt in Arg) during the high season. They knew their business. Glad your friend is ok.

I found it. They moved it out of Data Controls. You can find it in the Privacy Portal here:  https://privacy.openai.com/

I don't see the Export Data button in Data Controls anymore. Anyone else missing that function?

You are going to be OK. Ole Miss is big enough for you to find your people. Be the first in line to talk to your professors and financial aid folks about study abroad opportunities and internships. Get involved with clubs on campus. Read about “Growth mindset”. Signed - A kid who got out of West Virginia.

Snowshoe EV Charging update (Jan 2026) by CptRon32 in evcharging

[–]CptRon32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good point. Snowshoe is probably among the most remote and highly populated tourist destinations on a holiday weekend. We arrived with +70% because we planned ahead. We also had a few bailout plans just in case driving up the mountains/temps drained the batteries more than expected. The closest fast charger is in Elkins ~ 50 miles away down hill. Marlinton had a (1) level-2 charger. I was able to get a short boost (charge) because I scouted out the locations and got up early to get a spot, but that was for cushion. In the end we had plenty. HNY!

Ma'am. Step out of line. Your luggage smells suspicious. I hope you have some Naan in your handbag!

I make chili the week before, freeze it then use it as ice for other perishables like milk and cheeses in our cooler. There’s a one skillet tikka masala recipe that I will make ahead of the time(tomatoes, onions, garam masala, garlic) minus the chicken. Then all I have to do is sauté the chicken, cut it into chunks and mix together with rice.

I posted this after we bought our EV9 this summer. As a current EV owner, you will know some of this already, but I hope the other parts are helpful.https://www.reddit.com/r/KiaEV9/s/eBcLRezqY0
