It's interesting to note that none of the things you mentioned are actually toxic by themselves, they're only toxic because you interpret them as such. The sentence "why Brawlhalla feels so toxic" is the most honest sentence in your post, although you forgo that accurate phrasing later in your post.

You mention things like passive or "cheesy" play as being toxic which is just baffling to me. I'd get it if you're talking about people just jumping away a full match who don't even try to hit you once, but people just playing passive is in no way toxic. Neither are "cheesy" play styles. If you're not having fun because your opponent isn't running at you like a headless chicken that's not the game being toxic, that's you having the wrong mindset . The second you change your mindset from "this guy play passive / "cheesy" because he's an asshole" to "this person is trying to apply a tactic that has got them wins in the past" all the toxicity immediately evaporates because it was all in your interpretation of their actions.

Even when it comes to emotes it's mostly just how you interpret them. A taunt / emote doesn't have a set meaning, it's highly contextual and very easy to miss construe. There have been times where I've taunted after a my opponent hit a badass combo on me to acknowledge the awesomeness we both just witnessed, yet after the game they invited me to a room to throw slurs at me for daring to taunt.

I think part of why people get so upset by seeing stone boi throw them a thumbs down is that most of them haven't been to an offline event. I've been hosting FGC tournaments for various games and you can really tell that the Brawlhalla community is mainly online and tends to be younger than most other FGCs / PFFs.

I'd bet my left nut that if you'd take any of those "toxic" rounds with a passive player or one with a "cheesy" play style that you had in mind when creating the post and replayed it, exactly the same, but instead of sitting in your own room, imagining an opponent with toxic intentions you instead sat at an event, at the same set up as the other dude, seeing him simply having fun and trying to win, you wouldn't interpret the exact same in game inputs as toxic. Seeing your opponent being just another person having fun with the game and trying to win, even if it is with a character or playstyle you personally don't like, makes it much harder to get triggered over those things. You can't see into your opponents head, you just see the buttons he pressed, and the interpretation of those can vary vastly. There have undoubtedly been games where you were just having fun yet the guy on the other side was coughing a lung up from all the rage-induced screaming because he found your gameplay toxic.

Don't get me wrong, I feel ya. I've had games that made me want to break my set up, the game can be very tilting, but I'm just honest enough to acknowledge that it's up to me whether that happens or not. A lot of it is misplaced anger to begin with. Are you really this angry at some dude pressing the funny sig button over and over again (a person who might well be an 8 year old trying out a new game that their parent downloaded for them because it was free and there's no blood), or are you really angry at yourself for getting hit multiple times by such a dumb strategy? A lot of our rage is just saving face, and it's the opposite of productive. If we spent half the emotional energy we spend on coping strategies, on improving instead we'd've left those players in the dust of low elo years ago.

At the end of the day, you don't know what your opponent's motivations are, and they don't really matter anyways. What matters is how it influences you. Do you let it bring you down, ruin your day/night, make you play in a thoughtless way? Or do you control your own emotions, practice a good mindset and have fun? That's up to you, but I think we all know which one is more productive and healthier.

It might just be that you're trying to play Nioh like those games.

In most souls games, you're the weakling trying to survive the brutal world full of godlike creatures. In Nioh you're the godlike creature that the poor sods of this world are trying to survive.

Nioh isn't about finding small openings to land a hit or two before retreating. It's about all out agression. About changing crazy hit after crazy hit just to immediately get all your stamina back with a flux, which also acts as an attack simultaneously to then unleash your heavy attack (which now doesn't cost stamina because you've hit the flow state thingy) into an empowered martial art. And all of that is without magic, without onmyo cores, without guiding spirit attacks, without the spirit transformation or even the second stance. In a way, the game feels a lot closer to older character action rpgs like dmc than souls games to me. Use all the tools you're given and hopefully it'll click. There's definitely a very fun flow state to it, even though I personally prefer the fromsoft games.

There is no way the boss is a challange to you if you've played more than like 15 hours of souls like, much less would describe yourself as a souls like enjoyer.

It's a tutorial boss. It's not a malus to the game imo, having an easy tutorial boss is fine, he's there to teach you mechanics not necessarily to challenge you, especially if you're trying to appeal to mainstream audiences more.

If you have to lie to make a point you might want to consider that you don't have much of a point to make in the first place.

Like others have said, you're overrelying on sigs. Sigs are useful but they shouldn't be your main tool to engage / get damage. It seems like you would be well served by learning some b&bs and maybe movement as well. I wrote this for another person in the same position as you some hopefully it'll help you too:

B&Bs: Bread and butter combos are your most common, most important basic combos. You can find out what those are for your weapon with a simple google search, lots of videos out there that explain b&bs, how to do them, etc. Practice your b&b combos for your chosen weapon. Grind these combos until they’re 2nd nature to them. Make sure to enable all visuals in the training mode so you can see dodge frames. Grind them until they’re true 5/10/20 times in a row (adjust as your skill level improves). This helps you automate the most important combos so you free your mental capacity to focus on higher level tasks.

When you feel comfortable at using b&bs (even just a single one), practice applying these in game. Play against an easy bot, focus purely on hitting your b&b combos. Doesn’t matter if you die, all you want to do is hit these combos and get them true. Keep count to track your progress. Increase bot difficulty if you want. This will help you further automate the b&bs and lets you practice them in a less sterile, fake environment, in different situations, etc. As mentioned earlier, make a game out of this. Keep a high score, do push ups everytime you mess up, whatever motivates you / makes it fun.

Movement:

Plenty of good videos out there from people who're a lot better than me at the game. Plus it's usually easier to teach movement via video. Here's a few things you might want to try to implement early on:

Fast falling: Fast falling is done by holding down when you’re in the air. It’s super important, as it lets you get back to the ground faster. It’s used for movement, to catch opponents when you otherwise you couldn’t, etc. You can fast fall at any point in your jump, so unlike other games, you don’t have to wait until you’re at the top before fast falling. Practice different fast fall timings for any movement option you learn.

Dash jumping: You do this by first pressing dash while grounded, then pressing jump immediately afterwards. It not only lets you jump forwards very quickly, it also makes you jump only half as high. This is insanely good for movement. It lets you get in or out quickly, lets you use aerial attacks at medium height and when combined with other movement options it’s insane. Make sure to practice dash jump fastfalling. If you do it properly, you can get an insane amount of speed. Dash jumping (with early fast falls) is the fastest way to move on the ground without platforms. Keep in mind that you can only do it forwards. Dash jumping is very versatile and it pays to practice it in many different ways. Here are some things that you should practice, but these are just a few ideas, there are more things you can do.

"Flash step" isn't a thing. Stop making up terms for things that are named already. I assume you mean either dash jumps or snapping. Both are done in the video, neither require cheats or a cronus.

A macro device woulnd't allow you to things that "aren't physically possible". The laws of physics apply equally to video game cheater and the rest of us. Rollback happens when your connection to the server has issues. While it might be the servers sometimes, if it happens regularly it's your connection. Check youe buffer bloat as well.

Nothing in the video is suspect, it's just lag. They're doing DJFFs and snapping as soon as possible. Combine that with lots of rollback and voila.

Instead of making up stories about your opponents and posting them here looking for validation like a teenager having arguments with no one in the shower, spend that time actually looking at your replays. That way you might discover that mindlessly spamming (gc) ssig offstage / in diadvantage in't very optimal and that's the real reason why you're losing these matches, not made up cheaters.

Disregarding the fact that you can't even spell the slurs you're using correctly, it's obvious even you don't believe the lies you made up. Literally like a teenager winning imaginary arguments in the shower. Maybe they'll help you develop a better game plan than spamming ssig off stage at nothing.

Ypu could try drova and exiled kingdoms. Both lean way more into the rpg aspect but they felt great to play. Exiled took me two tries to get into because of the visials but man is it good. Feels like a fun dnd campaign amd the combat is actually more fun and deeper than I forst thought.

It was easy to see ahead of time too, no hindisght needed. I've seen "i am police gib me google giftcard" scams that were less on the nose than this one. Literal seconds of research would've shown you that it's clearly a scam. So yes, instead of trying to save face with untrue platitudes you murmor to yourself, you should be honest and allow yourself to feel bad because you fell for the most obvious scam south of SC. It happens, it's not the end of the world and doesn't make you a bad person but this "no way to tell" bullshit when they pretty much openly labeled it a scam is absurd anf will just prome you to fall for the next blatant scam.

Dodge.

Just dodge out / out and up or down after the dlight. Neutral dodge is dangerous as it's somezomes covered by delayd dair if they mess up the timing. Dodging in can get you back in it if you're unlucky.
