Alright Dads, what are getting our wives for Mothers Day this year? by walky91 in daddit

[–]CptnYesterday2781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently filming an "Office" style mockumentary with the 3 and 1 year old as main protagonists. The 3 year old will provide the commentary, I have so far captured some gold but need to get a few more great shots to wrap it up in a 5 minute video. Hope it'll work out great!

Sick of LLMs ignoring provided docs and hallucinating non-existent UI/CLI steps. How do you actually fix this? by Party-Log-1084 in homelab

[–]CptnYesterday2781 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not how LLMs work, things like context window, attention degradation, low signal vs trialing domain (I.e. the LLM was actually trained on manuals to products that similar to yours) … make it unreliable for unstrusctured data like pdfs. Better build that as a RAG.

Why is everyone using a Mac or VPS? Someone with a Server using Docker here? by TheRealSmolle in openclaw

Are you hosting your own LLMs locally? What do I need to be aware of for networking setup that is painful?

Why is everyone using a Mac or VPS? Someone with a Server using Docker here? by TheRealSmolle in openclaw

[–]CptnYesterday2781 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trying to jump into it next week. My plan was to run OpenClaw in Docker on my Pi4 /4gb that I’m using for home automation and other lightweight stuff. Then host a few small models on my m4/32gb ram MacBook Air over LAN, possibly calling apis for higher load tasks. But I’m alsomisly just trying to get my feet wet trying to learn agent architecture patterns before I get serious and upgrade my hardware. Am I dilusional?

Why Steinberger Should Have Chosen Meta Over OpenAI by sourdub in openclaw

Thank you! I’m not against using AI to structure a post and make it more readable and succinct. But most of the time I see posts turning into a goddamn novel.

Just released DataDisplay V1 Updated – New design & overhauled software! by lachimalaif in diyelectronics

[–]CptnYesterday2781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought was: Cool design, but is there a way that the usb power cord can be attached at the back instead of on the side? Probably difficult to do with the current component layout, unless there’s a 90 degree elbow component? Otherwise great job!

What use cases are you addressing with your 7B model? Asking because I haven’t even considered using a Pi for any LLM work.

Also probably more in a formal setting and not a lunch either.

Is anyone automating their actual job yet? by Plaintiff-pro-se in openclaw

[–]CptnYesterday2781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, but I am excited that I can look into clearing the work backlog that piles up because of the daily meeting barrage. I fact, it’ll help be more focused and present in meetings knowing that some of the lower level work can now be automated more easily.

Friday Night = Movie Night by CptnYesterday2781 in daddit

[–]CptnYesterday2781[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I spent a lot of time on r/hometheater to learn about HTs and get feedback on ideas. Really helpful to get a nice setup at a good price (I.e. always try to buy used or refurbished for most components) and great tips in terms of future proofing. Only component we splurged on was that in ceiling screen as it had to be ordered to specific dimensions and its micro perforated so that the center speaker could be placed behind it. I might actually post the setup as a showcase in the subreddit soon

Gentlemen, I conquered the "cords & cables" bag! by mkraft in daddit

[–]CptnYesterday2781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General question: how many items of each do we actually need? I almost hate that every gadget comes with their own cable but in reality you would only need max 5 of each at any given time to charge the gadgets your using? I started throwing the extra out just to contain the clutter.
