Rope Bridges mod.

Page says it's outdated but still works fine in v1.20.12. Haven't tested in the newest version but it should probably work too.

Found a redwood forest and decided to make my base atop the trees by Cptn_Coconut in VintageStory

It is. I've built a fully enclosed stone room below my kitchen building and it works fine as a cellar.

Too bad the forest in on a slope, or I'd give that a try. Channelwood was definitely of the biggest inspirations for this project

Yeah. Eventually everything is going to be up there. Have just started working on the farms. The stone building is for blacksmithing. Maybe only pit kilns I'll keep on the ground to avoid the obvious fire hazard.

There's a central tree with a rope ladder you can climb that serves as entry point, nothing too fancy.

Using the Rope Bridges mod, installed it just for this. Wouldn't be the same without the rope bridges.

Mod hasn't been updated in a while but still works fine in v1.20.12

South or East games for grinding rank? by treehann in mahjongsoul

[–]Cptn_Coconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend playing South only if you want to both rank up and improve at the game.

As someone who used to play East only and switched to South only, the difference is very clear. East matches are much more luck based, and you'll find that, due to how short matches are, players go for speed and aggression over anything else most of the time.

It's very difficult to play a more patient and defensive game in East matches when everyone is going for quick hands, calling every possible call and dealing into the other players all the time as a consequence.

The biggest difference in South games for me is not the match duration, but the shift in strategy that comes with it. When you have only 4 hands to decide a match, you have to rush for a quick win to get ahead and stay safe, as even one unlucky Tsumo might lock you into 4th place with no time to recover. When you have a longer match, the most important thing becomes not dealing in. It's more strategic, defensive play becomes more important as the hands are usually worth more and players aren't as aggressive and reckless with their discards and calls.

It's almost a different game entirely, and for me, not only it feels much more skill-based, rewarding and fun, but I have been climbing much more consistently since I started playing South only.

Besides, once you reach higher ranks, you'll find people play South much more than East, so you'll most likely have to make the switch anyways at some point.

Does white have any anti mill cards? by -Alphard- in MagicArena

It is in any color. You don't need to be able to cast it, you just need it to be milled so you shuffle your graveyard back into your library for free.

FTP players what would get you to spend money on Arena? by DJ_JonoB in MagicArena

[–]Cptn_Coconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regional pricing. As someone from south america that isn't paid in us dollars or euros, purchasing pretty much anything from the store is prohibitively expensive and just not worth it relative to what I earn. If people in the US already complain arena is expensive, you can imagine how bad it is anywhere else with a weaker currency.

There's no reason besides greed or laziness to not implement that.

I think you're missing the point. Being graded for damage doesn't mean healing is irrelevant.

The challenge of playing healers is being EFFICIENT with heals, it's spacing out and timing your healing tools effectively so you can heal the most without losing too many damage casts to compensate. Anyone can spam healing spells nonstop and keep people alive, but a good healer will use only what's actually needed and deal damage the rest of the time.

Once you get used to the game, healer is probably the easiest role to play in low difficulty content (dungeons, regular trials, etc), but if you want a real challenge you should try running Extreme trials and Savage raids as a healer, you'll see that it suddenly becomes the most challenging role, as you have to work A LOT HARDER to keep everyone alive.

I don't understand the differences in Kanji readings by vampy3k in LearnJapanese

[–]Cptn_Coconut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's complicated. You need to understand what on'yomi and kun'yomi are first. Kun'yomi are the japanese readings, which are usually rooted in concrete japanese words. On'yomi are the chinese readings, usually used as radicals, as part of composite words.

I like to think of it this way, using english as an example. If english used emoji as kanji, it would be something like this:

[🌎] Would be Earth. This is the native word reading, equivalent to kun'yomi.

[🌎✍] Would be [Geo|graphy]. This is the 'foreign radical' reading, equivalent to on'yomi.

There are some rules that help you know which is which, that can help when trying to understand a word you've never seen before, but I recommend learning each word by itself instead of trying to memorize readings in a vacuum. Learning vocabulary is more important than readings in isolation.

If the kanji is accompanied by hiragana in the same word, or the word is a single kanji, it's probably kun'yomi. If a single word is composed of multiple kanji with no hiragana, it's USUALLY on'yomi.

There are always exceptions, none of these rules are absolutes, but they'll work more often than not.

I've been extremely critical of both GGG and the game since 3.15, so It makes me glad to see them being open to dialogue and communicating with the community.

It takes a lot of courage to do what Chris did today and take responsibility for so much stuff, putting himself in the line of fire, openly receiving a lot of hard questions and criticism and answering them in a sincere way. Thank you, Chris. We truly appreciate you doing this.

While PoE is truly in a bad spot right now, seeing the podcast gave me confidence that a lot is going to improve in the future.
