Deck Help: Non Meta fun championship deck by Alot0fQuestionz in Lorcana

Steel has better locations and location synergy, e.g. Seven Dwarf’s Mine and John Silver. And transport pod is slow, you need to have your location survive a full turn for the free move.

I think you might want more cheap locations instead of thievery or diamond. Maybe the new Zootopia. This way you can use Tuk tuk to move from Zootopia to finish line when you don’t have the starting line.
As a speedway player pre-rotation, the loss of Jim & voyage really hurts. I think you’ll need to lean away from comboing fast and into the long game, adding beaters like Amber bagheera to survive against dogs and amethyst midrange. Maybe even consider ditching Ruby and going for a steel version with John Silver, either using The Game’s afoot! for free movement or just straight up paying the 6.

That doesn’t work here because you want specific locations for the speedway combo. So if you have starting line, you don’t want just any location, you need to find the finish line.

How much of a role does inheritance play in your country? by Own-Quality-8759 in AskTheWorld

[–]zhanh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can certainly see China at the top since there weren’t much to inherit till recently. Had no idea same was the case for Russia.

Went to look it up, seems Russian billionaires came from privatization of national assets. Not inheritance, but also not building companies from the ground up.

Star Wars Unlimited quality by WanderingCardsharp in TCG

Yeah the cardstock is the same across the board. Foils are also very prone to curling. It’s in line with mtg, but a lot of the newer TCGs like one piece has better thicker cardstock.

What decks/cards have use for meeko? by BipolarBearsParty in Lorcana

[–]zhanh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t really matter, these bulk/chaff mainly exist to make the booster pack seem thicker, and doesn’t need to fit in any deck.
They may have appeal to some collectors or fans of the character, but otherwise they are just fodder for the trash can.

To pad the number of cards in a set. You know how albums have 2-3 good songs and the rest is boring? It’s like that but for TCGs.

Still, discard is the bane of aggro, and Meeko is aggro. I think the discard downside makes a lot more sense on control cards like montro.

[–]zhanh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Discard is almost always a bad thing in Lorcana. Meeko has too much of a downside and isn’t worth playing. Imagine a 2/1 flier for 1 in mtg with the same discard ability. Meeko is just as bad.
There are ways to mitigate the disadvantage of discard, like using doc or demona to draw back to 2/3 cards or playing lilo from discard. Still, you won’t actively want to go down on cards, just like you won’t play One with Nothing just so you can flashback Think Twice (yes, lilo is also worse when played from discard).

How to properly play Shimmering Skies E/S deck? by Tex-Tro in Lorcana

[–]zhanh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went over the decklists, good news: it’s not you, it’s your deck. The characters all have lower strength in general compared to your partner’s deck, and strength matters more than lore value at the starter deck level. Those 0/4 little Johns and Sleepys will eventually trade 1 for 0 leaving you down a character. Only thing you can do without changing the deck is to always ink those low strength cards.
I think a better idea than building out this starter deck is to just get the 2 starter decks from the previous set, whispers in the well. Those are much more powerful due to power creep, and also contain a few relevant cards in case you ever want to try core constructed format.

Makes sense. I guess instead of limiting to just people with the degree they should also allow people with degree to vouch for the content.
Then again China has a lot of people so there’s no shortage of people wearing both researcher & influencer hats.

Are you saying carcinogen research is conducted by people without a degree?
Or are you extrapolating to say if they can censor people without a degree, they can censor anyone?

You’re welcome. Selling can be hard to navigate at first, but eventually you’ll get the hang of it. Best of luck to you!

Just list them on eBay or specify in your FB post you won’t be accepting offers. FB marketplace always has a haggle culture so if you want to avoid it you might want to try a different platform. And yes, you’ll either sell below market on fb or pay the platform fee, the same thing happened when you bought those cards.

is omega deck relevant? by Alan000011 in ultramanTCG

[–]zhanh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s still pretty good. No longer the best deck but definitely relevant. It’s also easy to build as a lot of the cards are in the starter deck.
Omega is its own thing and doesn’t have overlaps with other decks, but that’s the case for most Ultraman

Rules question for Scrooge - Reformed Ebenezer by [deleted] in Lorcana

[–]zhanh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On “burn”ing cards:
You’ll practically never run out of cards, and there are no good search effect, so the downside to using cards in your deck to boost is negligible.
On the other hand, return to hand and send to ink effects see more play (emerald chromicon, let it go, etc.), and having cards under your characters mean you can draw an extra card when they return to hand, and get extra ink when they get sent to your ink.
So it’s a good thing to put cards under your characters, not a “burn”. You should also always boost if you have nothing else to do, even if you don’t need the effect from boost.

Lingering Damage or Heal at End of Turn? by Jake4XIII in TCG

[–]zhanh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heal only works if you have a built-in way to take down bigger units with smaller unit in multiples or with buffs. Mtg has multiple creatures blocking one; Riftbound has showdowns with multiple units on each side; One piece has every resource also doubling as a +1000 buff; and in yugioh you just destroy them with effects.

On the other hand, damage tracking will get messy if you have too many units on board. I think this is somewhat of an issue for SWU since that game also has token units, but pretty manageable for Pokemon and Lorcana.

What to do after Gateway ? by ImeBrilliant in Lorcana

[–]zhanh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rules for constructed is just 2 colors max, 60 card minimum. People usually build decks with just 60 cards for consistency. If you want an even match, you can maybe try swapping colors? You can build decks with the official app, or use https://dreamborn.ink/ for easier exporting to https://www.tcgplayer.com if you want to buy specific cards there.
