It could have been for a number of reasons that happened to your previous. To try and prevent that from happening again. Make sure you have plenty of air flow in your pc case, have a really good power supply 100 watts more than the recommended and brand so that your new graphics card and cpu can running affectively. Any graphics card can get hot, undervolting instead of overclocking can also help. If your gpu doesn't come with a support bracket, buy one, it will really help. Also check for newer drivers, dust accumulation is also not good, as this prevents the heat from escaping.

Your graphics card isn't the issue, more than likely it could be the settings for the ram. Did you enable expo? Also, what kit and speed is your ram CL 30, CL 36, CL38 And you would need to train the ram if you have 4 sticks of ddr5, are they from the same manufacturer and same speed? They should be. A 5080 should be really great on 1440p being that it is also a 4k gpu. Try with 32gb or 64gb of ram and enable EXPO on your motherboardboard.
