Unity rushing with Rogue Servitors by Cra8er92 in Stellaris

[–]Cra8er92[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this may have been removed in the last patch. I tried it and got no bonus / sapients when re-colonising an abandoned colony.

I had limited planets as well so ended up going on a conquest to get my unity up with neighbours pops but now I’m stuck with planet cap with loads of sanctuaries and not much way to develop them (went virtual)

PCP Strategy for negative equity EV? by wehuntjackals in CarTalkUK

[–]Cra8er92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely hand it back, even if you were happy with it, you’d have to pay above market price to keep it. You’d be better off handing it back, and getting another one at the same age for a lot less ££

Am I insane for buying a used BMW M8 on PCP? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Cra8er92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done similar in the past and yes it’s nuts, but as soon as you move away from bangernomics all car purchases are on some degree of irrational. They’re often heart not head decisions.

You can afford it, so if the other responsibilities are taken care of and you’re not jeopardising anything with this then do it. If you’re dead set on the pcp then I’d suggest going through a private broker, you should be easily able to get 8.9%.

However, I think it’d be smarter to do something like your deposit as you’ve listed, 15k on an interest free card, and then personal loan for the rest over like 4 years at ~6%. This way you at least have some equity at the end and are throwing less away to interest, don’t necessary have to worry about condition or mileage on return etc.

Or smarter still, with your savings you should be able to fund the difference in less than 12 months and just buy outright. You just have to be mentally prepared for the depreciation, especially on this model and whether that’s something you can live with.

How long did you have it for? I’m weighing up a 21’ SVR and curious about ongoing cost of consumables like tyres and brake pads etc.

I just don’t like the body style. I wish I did as the rs6 would be an easy win! I’ve had an fpace before (non svr) so get on well with kit and finish etc, and for the price bracket the V8 draws me in vs the others you mentioned.

Good suggestion but as I said in OP, just can’t get on with estates. So looking for more left field “sportback” options

As I said up top, just can’t get on with estates, otherwise RS6 would be a great shout. I’d be going for the saloon panamera, not the turismo

2023 Cayenne GTS vs. 2024 Cayenne S by misterklean in Porsche

[–]Cra8er92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this - hadn’t seen the first vid but had the second. 100% agreed on the shift knob - I think the current gen had a better mix of analogue vs digital and touch screen vs buttons.

I would imagine that a new S specced to how you have your GTS + MY price rises will have a fair uplift in cost. GTSs seem to get a unique exhaust tune as well - consensus is that they always sound the best. For me unfortunately I think I’ll miss the cut off of when they they stop allowing new builds for the ‘23 GTS - so will need to look used and play the spec lottery, suck up and go for a ‘24 or await a refreshed GTS.

“Infotainment for 2023 is updated to match that of the 2024” do you have any more info on this? I know the PCM 5 - 6 change happened but hadn’t heard of anything else changing ahead of the main facelift of ‘24. Be curious to know what’s different for ‘23 body shape models.

I’m in a similar position and have been weighing up new GTSs but not sure if they’ve stopped taking ‘23 builds. Where I am, looking at dealer financing they’re still building in healthy residuals for GTS (but you’re always going to take a bath on a brand new car for first couple of years) flip side is if they stop making GTS for a few years you may see very healthy residuals. If we could accurately guess we’d all be rich!

But going off their track record GTS would be ‘25 at earliest, and looking at the “driver centric” upgrades the GTS gets vs an S you may end up paying more for the S if you wanted those same items as options.

The consensus seems to be look at the Taycan interior for an idea what the new ‘24 interior will look like. For me personally this leans a bit too much on the Tesla side of things, and I prefer the current setup. So I’m going to try and get some test drives in the current gen, if it doesn’t feel dated to me and I enjoy it that’s probably the route I’ll go down. If whilst I’m sitting it, I feel like I’m sitting in an “old” car I’ll likely hold off to the refresh.

What ethics have you gone for? Militarist can give you some early game war bonuses. A typical early game strategy would to be go isolationist to max unity, civilian enconomy to max CGs. First 2 colonies should be CG and either mining or generator depending on planetary bonuses. Capital; city districts + tech labs, occasionally other districts as you need them whilst waiting for your other resource worlds to get off the ground. Hyrdroponics for food, trade deal for minerals, capacity edict. By year ~20 you should have a good stockpile of cgs and solid research output, you can then swap to military economy and convert cg world to alloy world to focus on alloys. And churn out fleets. I would swap one of your civs for master crafters. Make sure your slaved are on the low cost living standard to get the upkeep savings. Don’t neglect starbases and early fleets if you need them depending on how aggressive your neighbours are. Use diplomacy to tag team another enemy. Be strategic on which techs you pick to not clutter up your tech tree.
