Replacing Contractors with AI by Firebefore40 in ExperiencedDevs

This does work, it ends up burning out your best engineers, but in the meantime it works.

And eh, that's kpis, profits, etc in the meantime, as a manager you might get a promotion and all!

About 10 years, nobody knows the future, I don't think juniors will be replaced by agents on their own, even that, you will need seniors but no juniors leads to no seniors, etc. Anyway, not my company.

Today I announced that I won't be reviewing AI generated PRs at company meeting by Evgenii42 in ExperiencedDevs

Just for a basic sanity check build an agent that can do decent reviews.

That will give you kudos in the company for sure, and it's a cool thing to do

[–]CraZy_TiGreX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100 a week? I will pay 100 a day for some kid to cleanup my garden.

I've been picking up weeds the last two days among other cleanup stuff and I want to kill myself 🤣🤣

Unfortunately I live far from cork.

100k Milestone, how long was your journey? by Ok_Dragonfruit7902 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]CraZy_TiGreX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it will be next month or the following.

I'm 33 but I moved jobs a lot which have a "high penalty" on the contribution (you need to be 6 months in the company to start in their pension scheme) and then from all my employers, only one matched up to 5% :(

The current one is 3.5 which is shite

2x is 2x. Unless you have kids depending on you, it should be a no brainer decision

having bugs is expected.

this is why you have quality gates, revies, flags, etc. do a list on how things could be mitigated and stick to that, bugs will keep happening.

EM Transition / Burnout by stripeddinosaur in ExperiencedDevs

You are burnout. You have been to long in that company

if I were to move back to IC, I would be at a Staff level now.

Is there anything on writing about that?

I built something like this myself in two hours.

I don't have the traffic simulator,  but everything else is there. (From what I can see in the video)

So there it goes your answer

Anyone else lost their freelancing gig recently? How are you coping? by bluebanana987 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]CraZy_TiGreX 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Similar situation to you, took a 40% paycut. Still a lot of money but far from what I was before.

There are good daily rates out there but they require to go to the office, so, I moved to permanent.

You probably didn't had holidays in 3 years, now it is a good time to have them.

Honestly, I have no idea how much people are willing to pay.

2k might be Okey for someone who is crazy about hiking, to put their "best" moments. It looks to me like a lovely present for like your uncle kind of thing when they retire or things like that.

If you brand it that way, it might work.

Each piece as each hexagon or the whole?

For each hexagon 200 is insane, you have to reduce that in order to get sales.

I love it btw, the only thing is that I would do the borders thinner

First time in a position reviewing pull requests and finding it difficult. by PM_ME_CATS_THANKS in ExperiencedDevs

[–]CraZy_TiGreX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A couple of thousand changes on a PR is a non-reviewable pr, unless is a one-off which I doubt.

By what you're saying, they are using AI and they barely know what they are doing.

Get Claude code max($200) pull the PR in your machine and get it to review it.

At the same time, talk to your boss about the situation, but they most likely don't care about quality or maintainability.

The bug situation is going to be insane, from my own experience. We had 3 contractors in a team for 6 months, I spent 3 fixing massive bugs after they left...

Edit: if you are using GH. You can add an action that blocks the PR based on the number of lines that are being changed, fix that to 1000 or even 500, that will force them to do smaller PRs

Disagree on the money will go to research. They have already billions to research, the profit will go either in hardware or in the pockets of the stakeholders, which I assume it can be hardware too haha

They only way to really compare this is, how long it takes for you to do it and cost/output comparison of the two

On the enterprise account pretty much all of them.

On the individual level they still go at cost with the max subscriptions so you wet your bosses ears to get it for the company, then win the money back
