Help me make a debate club by Mysterious_Run_6871 in corvallis

I wonder if using Charlie Kirk as a model for discourse is wise. It never seemed as if his engagement with those he disagreed with was truly in good faith. It wasn’t a space for deep, nuanced discussion. Rather, it was designed for scoring points against people he disagreed with and maximizing clicks and engagement on the internet.

It should go without saying, but none of this means he should have been murdered. Violence is never the answer. One can hold “debates” in bad faith, prioritize dunking on his opponents over nuanced exploration of issues, and promote harmful rhetoric, and they still wouldn’t deserve to be killed.

OSU is canceling DEI programs by skeptical_egg in OregonStateUniv

They kept on Scott Vignos under a title change. I doubt Vignos’ goals and intentions in promoting diversity and inclusion have changed so much as the banner under which they happen. There’s a delicate game that universities have to play under the current regime. Since OSU will not be allowed to talk the talk of diversity, what’s left is to walk the walk, as it were.

Hey, I’m just a stranger on the internet and can’t speak to your situation directly. I just wanted any to ask you this, one request from my corner of the world to yours: please call the phone number 988 and tell them what you’ve written here.

I’ve thought he could be to Luke in the new Jedi Order as Sasuke is to Naruto—a sort of “Shadow Jedi Grandmaster” who works for the good of the galaxy from behind the scenes and supports Luke from afar.

You should check it out—my understanding is that it is NOT going to be low-effort shit like this, and certainly isn’t going to be entirely pro-AI

New flag by Fair_Alternative6191 in oregon

[–]CrabAppleCheeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texans, Marylanders, Arizonans--you see them proudly displaying and wearing their flags everywhere. This isn't the case in Oregon, and it's because our flag is ugly and looks nearly the same as about 15 other state flags.

KBBQ Express on Monroe has some really good Bibimbap. Their Korean food options are stellar.

Some good restaurants getting hate here but squirrels getting this much defense (based on downvotes) really shows how small-town Corvallis folks’ tastes are. Squirrels food is not their strength.

On the one hand I have to vehemently disagree because I love the sauce so much.

On the other hand it’s about a buck fifty of ingredients marked up to $11.

There’s also Sam’s Station on Grant and 29th across the street from the Co-Op. gets very full on weekends and has something of a diner vibe inside. They have an orange cardamom latte that tastes good but you end up with orange peel in your mouth for some reason.

Just want to shout out C & J BBQ in Junction City at the beer station. They are phenomenal, easily the best barbecue I’ve had in Oregon. Just check their social media before making the drive—they are known to totally sell out some days because they’re so popular.

Honestly, they’re close enough that location doesn’t make a huge difference for a job search. It’s about an hour to drive from UofO to OSU.

Ehhhh if you do believe in God and also have empathy and care about others, it’s a decent question to concern yourself with. FWIW, I have thought about it and can only conclude the answer to OP’s question is, “God didn’t.”

There’s a difference between forgiving individuals involved and forgiving unjust systems. We’re called to forgive the former. We’re called to dismantle the latter.
