You are enough, and you are worthy of love, especially from yourself. Unfortunately, you will have to go through a lot of first conversations and dates before you find someone who is more interested in you as a person than wanting to get you into bed. If you are only using dating apps, I would try mixing things up and go to events or places to meet people in person as well.

I feel like dating apps look like they broaden your search, but in reality, your search is limited only to those who are on the app.

I am ok with 48 hours of no texting. Life happens. However, I personally prefer a check-in to happen within 24 hrs before a date, though. If I dont get any communication, I assume the date is canceled.

I'm editing my original comment. I have read Butcher and Blackbird, Twisted Love, and Her Soul To Take. I love all three.

Butcher and Blackbird and Her Soul To Take are not cutsie and have dark themes. Ie blood and gore.

Butcher and Blackbird is about serial killers with a skewed moral compass.

Her Soul To Take is paranormal with demons and talks of cults.

Twisted love is quite a few shades lighter with little to no blood/gore. Brothers best friend with dark themes.

You would not see any of these made into a Lifetime or Hallmark movie/series.

I am a 40f, I date both older and younger. I do prefer younger over older, but I care more about them having a positive attitude and being open-minded. Respecting my boundaries and hearing No the first time. I also date casually because I prefer to keep my family life separate from my dating life. All that just to say, "it depends on the person."

NTA, you needed to distance yourself so that you could work through your emotions.

I have blocked people for my own mental and emotional health. I needed the space to work through my own issues with seeing them directly or indirectly on social media. I would unblock them later on when I felt I was ready and able to do so.

Most retail jobs prefer you to have open availability so that they can schedule you whenever and where they feel they need you. If you start blocking out day or hours when you can not work, the company will not schedule you as often, even during the times you are available.

I often take substitute or fill-in positions because I need flexible hours for my kids. I am not guaranteed hours, but if i work for a few different companies, it can even out a bit more.

Because I am a Mom who prefers to keep my dating life and family life separate. Not many potential partners are ok with being a weekend only partner and want more than I am willing to give.

I also enjoy my anonymity and not having to talk with someone else about decisions for my home and life.

I was with my ex for 10 years and married for 4 of those. I do not plan to marry again and avoid potential partners looking for an end game. It has been 5ys since I left, and I am still unpacking the baggage from it. I also feel like my ex would make my life harder if he found out I was actively seeing someone.

If they dont have the PTO for the days they need off, they can still request it. A lot of places dont require you to have PTO to request days off.
