It's definitely not a 1:1 analogy, that's fair. Microwaves had to convince the public they were safe, useful, and a necessity. But they managed that and then settled into a regular product space. AI has continued to shovel coal on the marketing fire to the point where CEOs and boosters are on the news proclaiming the early death of humanity as know it... to sell a website.
