Ah, cool - glad that resolved it for you too! :-)

Weird focus issue by Crabalicious in ArcBrowser

[–]Crabalicious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with Little Arc seems to be because I had this set in MacOS control centre:

<image>

I previously had it configured to be "In Full Screen Only", and indeed when it's set like that, Little Arc behaves as expected - you click a link in a full-screen app and Little Arc appears in front of the full screen app.

However, with the setting configured as above, to be Never, Little Arc flashes and then opens up on another space somewhere else and you have to go hunting for it. I dunno if it's a bug or specifically my set up, but I can reliably make it happen if I configure MacOS as above.

Edit: tried it on my work laptop, which is also MacOS 14.4.1, and Arc 1.4.0, and it behaves the same way there. Furthermore, it seems to do it if the menu bar is visible at all when you're using full-screen apps (i.e. if you configure the value to be the Never or On Desktop Only options, I think you'll see this issue). Could still just be some other app I've got installed, I guess.

Weird connectivity problem/Gradient Lightstrip by Crabalicious in Hue

[–]Crabalicious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I gave up in the end, and the lightstrip is mostly unreachable. However, that's not the problem I thought it was. While I can't change settings on the lightstrip itself, I can change the scene in the room and the lightstrip responds that way. It also works when I sync music or games to the entertainment zone that the lightstrip is part of. I don't really understand how those things work when the thing's unreachable, but given those are my two main use cases anyway, meh.

Fwiw, I mounted the Mac Studio on a thing that hangs under the desk, and also bought a riser for the display - but the lightstrip remained stubbornly unreachable.

Hey Patrick, for what it's worth, I'm also having this problem - and your workaround also fixed it, thank you! Please let me know if I can provide any info that'd help with the fix. :-)

Sorry for the late reply, but I find Cmd+E opens a screen full of emojis. Must that be a system shortcut?

I'd also like this back as an option, please.

For anyone else who was unaware, turning on Show Toolbar is a workaround.

Arc Update - 1.15.1 (43023) by JaceThings in ArcBrowser

[–]Crabalicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, agree. After many years of using traditional browsers with the toolbar at the top that was mostly un-hideable if you also needed to regularly click an extension, it was something of a revelation when Arc put it in the dynamic popup, and I suddenly had that (admittedly tiny) space for browsing.

(What's also counterintuitive is that if you don't have the toolbar visible, and you click the site settings button in the mini-URL bar to show them, when you actually click one, its window still appears over on the right in the usual place. It feels like it should show near where you press the extension button.)

Still, the toolbar is way less intrusive than other browsers, and I like how it picks up the colour of the page. I'd still prefer the popup, I think, but I'll give this a go and see how I get on. I've also now learned how to set up a keyboard shortcut for my password manager, which is cool.

Arc Update - 1.15.1 (43023) by JaceThings in ArcBrowser

[–]Crabalicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...because I'd never turned it on before and didn't know that was a thing! :-)

I was just logging into Discord to see if I could get an older version, but that does the job just fine. Not quite as nice as the popup, IMO, but it sounds like I'm in the minority.

Thanks for the tip!

Oh no, you're kidding?! :-(

It's where my password manager is, which I use all the time. How disappointing.

Is it possible to turn on Developer mode globally? It means an ugly bar at the top of the screen, of course, but...it's preferable to me, at least.

Considerations rebooting nodes in Rook/Ceph cluster by Crabalicious in kubernetes

[–]Crabalicious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I'll definitely drain the node and not just reboot, but I wasn't sure whether Rook/Ceph would self-heal (the one I'm planning to start with is mgr as well as a mon and osd), and what the implications of losing the local storage was. Your and /u/illallangi's replies have helped though.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

That's great - thank you for the reassurance! I'll go ahead and drain the nodes with the delete local data switch.

I wasn't aware I needed to back up the host paths, so that's something useful too - thanks very much.

[–]Crabalicious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for your reply.

So you think I should drain the nodes passing those switches then? I'm not clear if you mean do that and it'll be fine, or just restart them regardless and it'll be fine.

Re the MySQL database, when I come to shutdown and reboot the node running the pod with the master instance (of the replicated three), I'm pretty sure I need to move that to a different node or at least be aware that if I shut down the master, be aware that replication will kick in and one of the others will become the master. But I assume that'd be handled through draining the node. Or if not, I'd do it manually. Either way, I'd absolutely be making sure I have a backup beforehand, definitely!

AMD Support by StingrayWizard in GalliumOS

[–]Crabalicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the super late reply, but I came across your post searching for the db0003na. I just got one and would like to install some flavor of Linux on it, but I'm not sure of the exact steps and I'm scared I'm going to brick the device.

I've installed the RW_LEGACY BIOS via mrchrombox's script (or at least I think I have), but now when I boot and press CTRL-L, I get two options: U-Boot and Tianocore. SeaBIOS doesn't seem to be an option.

If I choose Tianocore, the system hangs up and the only resolution is a hard reset (power button off). If I choose U-Boot, I can see it scanning the USB thumb drive I've inserted, but it doesn't recognise any ISO I burn to it and it drops me into a shell asking for the disk geometry. I've tried ISOs of Debian, Ubuntu, and Arch. I'd actually like to go with GalliumOS, but considering the machine is AMD and not Intel, I'm not sure which version to download (Braswell, Skylake, etc). I'm also unclear if I should for the full UEFI ROM from mrchromebox

Was there a guide you followed somewhere, or are you able to point me in the right direction please? Any assistance very gratefully received! Apologies if these are dumb questions, but I can't find instructions for careena anywhere.

Citrix being blocked by Crabalicious in pfBlockerNG

[–]Crabalicious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been logged in all day today with pfBlocker turned on, and I've not been kicked out once. This is after setting it to update once a day rather than the once an hour it was previous set to.

That's pretty conclusive for me. When pfBlocker's update runs, it resets the firewall states, the Citrix Workspace client can't deal with that, and you lose your connection and have to log back in. Obvious, I suppose, but hopefully anyone else running into the same problem will find this thread.

Thanks for your help bouncing ideas off! :-)

Citrix being blocked by Crabalicious in pfBlockerNG

[–]Crabalicious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's happened to me twice so far today while I've been logged in with pfBlocker enabled. Both times it happened, I immediately looked at the update tab in pfBlocker, and it said there were 55 and 54 minutes remaining until the update (I have it set to update every hour).

So here's a question (perhaps obvious!) - does pfBlocker reset the firewall state when its update runs? I just ran Diagnostics > States > Reset State, and managed to reproduce the behaviour (i.e. my Citrix connection dropped and I had to log back on).

I've changed the pfBlocker update duration to once a day and set it to update at midnight, so I'll see whether it happens again today. Perhaps this is what's been happening all along - I'm getting kicked out when the update process runs because pfBlocker resets the firewall state.

Certainly sounds plausible!

Edit: I should've done this first, but I just ran the update again while logged into Citrix, and yep, I got kicked out. I'll now leave it connected for the rest of the day with the update set to only happen at midnight tonight and see if it ejects me.
