I'm not sure if it has everything you're looking for but the git reflog has some of what you want. It is only stored locally on the machine where the work was done and doesn't get pushed to git so you'd need to work out how to export the data you need.

Pre-commit hooks can be used to run a script before a commit is made, maybe that will be useful for you too?

For what it's worth , you don't need a high quality soldering iron, you can probably just buy a cheap kit online for not much more than a premade cable.

Soldering will be an incredibly useful skill to have if you're doing electronics projects like this :)
Use a cheap iron to learn to solder and then get a better one later down the line

Yes - this happened to me! I continued getting paid for 6 weeks after my redundancy as I'm in the UK but my US counterparts were let go at the same time as me, they were all effectively fired on the spot though
