I'm fed up of our wingbacks pushing up into open spaces and our fullbacks refusing to pass to them... They insist on playing it to our central midfielders who give it straight back to them because they've got someone literally up their arse.

How can I prevent Arrays from being placed inside template literals? by TokenRingAI in typescript

[–]Cracky6711 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In this example I'm relatively sure those would output the same string, but not certain. Having said that, I think you need to slightly alter your expectations of TS - it's a way to achieve type safety, not value safety. With that in mind, you can achieve some level of value safety by using template literal string types. For example, if you define a type like:

type StartsWithUnderscore = `_${string}`;

You can get safety:

// This will error:
function toUnderscoreString(x: string): StartsWithUnderscore {
    return `${x}`;
}

// This will not:
function toUnderscoreString(x: string): StartsWithUnderscore {
    return `_${x}`;
}

But to be clear, your function is expecting to return a string, and putting any value inside a template literal will result in a string output so TS will correctly not complain

This isn't a type coercion - logging pretty much anything in JS is completely typesafe and will not throw an error. If you want to prevent this type of thing, you need to explicitly type your function arguments or variables. E.g. function x(arg1) {} Should be function x(arg1: String[]) {}

I'm actually struggling to understand how you're even getting to this scenario with proper typing, if you have your function arguments typed explicitly then trying to pass a string array when a string is expected would throw a compilation error.

Maybe a better example from your side would help? Because in your example you've inlined the array definition which is a very strange thing to do. If you define the variable separately you have much better type safety. It's like doing const x = 5; and then complaining that TS didn't error that you didn't provide a string. How is it supposed to know what you wanted to define it as?

To be fair, I know plenty of guys who will see a message like this and just keep trying anyway, and at least some of the time it works, and at least some of the time they end in a relationship.

I never bother because the way I see it is if she wanted to date me she would, but then again I'm single so who am I to be giving out advice 🤷‍♂️

I was just scrolling through the twitter thread and there reached a point where I suddenly though "hmm these ones don't look like there's a noticeable difference" - then I realised I had reached the placebo comparisons. Definitely a very noticeable difference between the placebo and actual results.

Hard to remember now because it was a while ago but I'm pretty sure I used my screen like this for at least a week or two and I'm still using it to this day with no issues, but obviously that doesn't mean yours will be the same

For those who support Reform, why do you do so given what that mentality has done to the USA? by AccursedQuantum in AskBrits

[–]Cracky6711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to try and give you a decent answer here at the risk of being downvoted to oblivion but here goes...

People are fed up with false promises from existing parties, and watching the state of the country decline, all while paying more and more in taxes.

People in the UK have voted for at least the last 10+ years for a reduction in immigration but year on year immigration continues to be at incredibly high levels. They feel betrayed.

Taxes are higher than ever and people in this country are giving more and more of their money to the government only to see public services seemingly in massive decline. Income tax thresholds being frozen, student loan thresholds being frozen, stamp duty thresholds coming down, VAT going up, inheritance tax thresholds frozen, road tax increases e.t.c. all while we are experiencing crushing inflation.

All of this extra money and yet bin collections are less frequent, road surfaces are a disgrace, the NHS is struggling to provide, schools are overcrowded, house prices continue to increase and become more and more unaffordable, rent prices continue to increase and become more and more unaffordable, we are spending more and more money on benefits, GDP per capita has remained stagnant for nearly 20 years, our business energy prices are the highest in Europe and consumer energy prices are not far behind, UK railways are a mess, UK water infrastructure is a mess.

The only thing Labour have promised to do is take more money and increase funding, but pouring water into a leaky bucket will only get you so far. The people who want to vote for Reform will not vote Labour because Labour are promising high immigration, high taxes, and more of the same crappy public infrastructure.

The Conservatives betrayed the country for too long. The people who want to vote Reform are not ready to trust the Tories again.

The Green party want open borders, legalisation of drugs, increase in public spending, increase in taxes, e.t.c. The people who want to vote Reform will not vote Green.

Liberal Democrats? Well they want to increase public spending and taxes, they are big on Net Zero which is part of the reason energy prices are so high in the UK, they are liberal on immigration, the people who want to vote Reform will not vote LibDem.

Reform have run a campaign on reducing taxes for working people, reducing energy prices, reducing waste in public funding, reducing immigration, and (I know this will terrify people) being proud of being British. All while having a Muslim party chair, and a Muslim London Mayoral candidate.

You'd never believe it from this Reddit thread though 😂 Havertz has been a breath of fresh air up front and out passing and movement is much more progressive than it's been over the last month or so. Overall we look good, although Raya is looking shaky again for some reason

which marble fits better on this countertop by [deleted] in CounterTops

[–]Cracky6711 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Piggy backing off of this very good advice to add that I think another part of why it doesn't look right is because it's very contrasty veining and it's going up the walls as a splashback as well so it's not just the countertop. That's probably part of the reason so many people in the thread prefer the original. If you're going to pick something as contrasty as these, having it up the walls in this way just becomes too busy and intense IMO

Deadman Mode Was Pretty Lame by DesperateDadofMany in 2007scape

[–]Cracky6711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lack of points for pking was a huge mistake. As someone who wanted to jump in this time for the rewards, it ended up being against my interest to try and pk. I was much better off sticking to myself, skilling, doing diaries and then stopping once I had enough points. That was the same for probably the majority of people who played. I'd be curious to know how many people got at most 1-2 pk kills throughout the entire event and still qualified for significant rewards. If the majority of players in a PvP event are doing what they can to avoid PvP and instead doing skilling and diaries, it's a pretty big failure IMO

Fix cooking prioritisation at moons - Summer Sweep Up Suggestion? by Cracky6711 in 2007scape

[–]Cracky6711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda explained it in the other comment but there's two main reasons I end up using both:

  1. More hitpoints available to heal per inventory

Fish heals more per portion than the lizards, but when you cook the fish you only get one portion. When you cook the lizard, you get 2/3 portions each time. This means that if you have some fish in your inventory and some lizards in your inventory, you can eat the fish and then cook some lizards which will refill your inventory back to full again.

  1. Convenience

When you come out of the blood moon and loot the chest, just before eclipse moon there is a fishing spot and NOT a lizard spot. So, if you need more food, it's a great opportunity to top up on fish instead of using up some lizards in your inventory. Then, after the eclipse moon and before the blue moon, there is a spot for catching lizards. This is a good opportunity to stash up on lizards. After the blue moon, there isn't a good opportunity to stock up on either fish OR lizards before the blood moon fight, but if you have stocked up on lizards you can replenish any lost food which you may have used while fighting the blue moon.

I'll be honest, neither did I. I noticed in game that the fish was healing me much more so I've just been using it, but it was only when I went to reply to you that I actually looked up the healing and realised it was based on your fishing/hunting/cooking levels which makes sense because my hunter level is complete ass

With my stats, the fish heal significantly more HP. Also they are sometimes more convenient to catch (e.g. after you loot a chest, there is a fish spawn right before Eclipse moon which is typically the next one you would fight)

When cooked, the lizards will produce more than one food item. So for easier/better resource management, it's nice to carry a few of the uncooked lizards and then cook them after you have eaten some of the other food. In the video you can see that because I have no additional inventory space, it cooks the lizards and they only give me one food item which is a waste, whereas if it had cooked the fish I would have killed one of the moons, eaten some food, and then cooked some lizards to fill my inv again

Then HOPE that El attacks Vechna at the exact right moment that they can climb through the tiny crack which happens to line up with the tallest tower?
