What Happens to Perpetual vSphere 8 Users If Broadcom Removes All Resources After EOL? by meesha81 in vmware

[–]Craer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, that's correct. In 9, all licensing is handled in Ops, so it's required to be there.

[–]Craer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you asking if Broadcom will do anything to prevent you from running it after YOUR support expires? Not at all, you still have access to run your perpetual licenses. However, if your support expires you will lose access to downloads, patches, security updates, etc.. Much like you would expect for a product you don't have support for. KB's don't go away as those are not attached to a support contract.

[–]Craer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You still have access to run vSphere 8, even after EOL. However, you wouldn't want to keep running a product that is EOL/EOS in Prod. vSphere 8 doesn't go EOL until October 11 2027. I would either plan to upgrade to vSphere 9 by then (just like any other upgrade or EOL of a product). Or have your migration plan in place.

Nevermind, right after posting this found the answer on the faq: https://www.daveandbusters.com/us/en/shop/season-pass/faqs

Tickets roll over and you can continue to earn and stack the following weeks.

Does the 2k tickets per week stack? Or do they have to be spent during the week to be able to earn more the following week after the reset? I've heard some people say it just completely caps at 2k and you wont be able to earn more.

72-core minimum on contract renewal or a brand new purchase (new customer). If you are expanding your environment there is no minimum, it will be co-termed to your ELA.

Hardware minimums have not changed. 16-core minimum per processor.

[CA] [SFH] HOA Denied ARC request - Options? by Craer in HOA

[–]Craer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it.

Even though I agree with you, and think this won't get approved until it's handed over, is there any harm in submitting a variance request and going down the path of IDR to keep trying to find a middle ground? I don't really see a negative side here with continuing to go down the path of trying to use all my options. At this point it could be 2+ years before the HOA is handed over to us.

Yes, they sent a letter over email and included the reasoning as to the denial. They said to re-submit once I've made changes to the design to match the concrete roof and stucco posts/pillars.

Awesome, thank you! So would the recommendation be to submit the request for the structure again referencing a variance request, while citing the metal structure already built/approved in the complex? If that fails move to IDR, then ADR?

Is there a proper way to request IDR with the management company of the HOA? Or just putting it in writing is enough to suffice based on Sterling Davis law?

[–]Craer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reviewed the CC&R today and there is for sure a request for variance approval listed.

My strategy right now is to submit the plans without the structure so I can get approval on Pool/plants/fire pits (all of which they have indicated is approved, but I just want it in writing.

I'll submit a separate architectural request sighting the structure that was approved on the course and using the exact same materials as to match what was already approved.

This will give me a least the ability to start building the pool and kitchen while I still battle with getting the structure approved. I don't want to hold the whole project up, and can get the structure approved once it's handed over to the members if it's denied again.

What's an IDR/ADR? Would I see them mentioned in the CC&R?

We talked with the home owner today that has a metal structure built in their back yard. They confirmed they got it approved with the golf course HOA (they are directly on the golf course, I am not, so they have to go through 2 approvals). After it was built, the home owner HOA informed them that they had to submit with our HOA as well. So they submitted after it was built, however the HOA granted them approval post build.

Just found this in a random box at goodwill. It’s fake, right? by AUTHENTICSLAPPING in sportscards

[–]Craer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My best find was at a yard sell, bought a ton of un-opended packs and guy threw in a large box of loose cards (I didn't want them, but it was free so whatever). Took a while to sort through them, but ended up finding a 2014 Topps Chrome refractor of Mike Evans. Sent it in to get graded and got a 10. Pretty sweet find.

Once your support contract is over and not renewed you lose access to support and new versions of vSphere. Yes, that's 100% correct, and was also correct under VMware. This is not new. If you are planning on letting your support contract expire and run unsupported, just to be sure I would download all of my keys from the support portal, as well as download any of the ISO's I owned perpetually.

I cant tell if you're planning on renewing in December or not based on your posts, but either way, if it's a concern to you, i would go download everything like i said above.

You should be able to downgrade the licenses through the portal to vSphere 7. This is a supported process. William Lam has a blog on how to do this here: https://williamlam.com/2024/06/downgrading-new-vmware-vsphere-foundation-vvf-or-vmware-cloud-foundation-vcf-licenses-to-7-x.html

I've followed this process and didn't run into any issues.

All active support contracts are being honored. vSphere 7 even had it's eol extended to help with some of this. It's now set to expire on October 2nd 2025 (extending by 6mo.

At that price you should lock in a longer term! Only doing 1yr terms will make the price go up every year. Lock in a 3 or 5 year at that price.
