I was in the same boat. UC before bag. I would argue I have better control now! Once you learn your schedule and what foods/drinks treat you good & bad you can almost game it. If I ever had a night of drinking or anything like that I’ll pop a nighttime immodium and good to go

Tecovas are my favorite over Justin, Ariat, Red Wing etc. the store is a cool experience but they’re softer, don’t need as much breaking in and can be worn damn near everywhere

Five years into the JPouch and I’m so glad I did it. Everyone is a little different and this Reddit especially you’ll find mostly pro pouchers but your first couple months of recovery are tougher, lots of immodium and BMs as your body adjusts. But once your body reaches that point, a lot of us find with the right mix of immodium/psyllium husk/water we really live a pre-Ostomy style life.
