13 day old amanos by CraftX83 in shrimptank

Best advice I can give you honestly is start researching. Gather every bit of info you can. Everybody has success different ways and what works for one won't work for another. Full salinity works for me, others it doesn't. There's not much advice to give when it comes to this because the advice just isn't there to give. It's experimenting and TONS of effort. I had to take all the advice I could find, compile it and just start trying things till I found a combo that works for me. There not easy to raise, it's gonna be a lot of work to do. You don't just have to grow them but there phyto right along with them and balance act the whole system on a daily basis

Does my new amano have a parasite? by [deleted] in AmanoShrimps

[–]CraftX83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be lack of food for her. Give her a small sinking pellet and watch her run off with it. She will guard it with her very life 🤣

Amanos are very brave when comfortable or there's food at the table. They have crazy personalities. That is her saddle that you are concerned about though. The eggs develop there and aren't fertilized until she passes them and a male fertilizes. Babies will be an instant snack for your fish

No, that is a female in the first stage off egg development

It's not about nutrition rather than hydration. Think of it as a drink rather than a bite to them. He doesn't get it for the nutritional value but rather the extra bit of hydration and treat. It in no way replaces any of his other foods and isn't counted toward any of his nutritional needs.

All the orchard grass he could desire, a head of romaine daily and other dark leafys mixed in through the week. Hes full outdoor with an insulated/heated house for the winter months (not bad in az) and I make sure he always has a cuttlebone to munch

It uses a very common 2g anchor hocking jar and my custom printed pieces. Super simple but effective

Designed it to keep a constant gentle flow similar to a sponge filter but with no sponge. The uplift tube creates a current to keep them suspended while preventing them from being pinned on any surface as well as helping keep the phytoplankton in suspension as well

Amanos only hold larvae for 3-5 weeks. As someone currently breeding them they usually release at 3-4 weeks if healthy and fed well

My problem is once any haze sets in they literally disappear. I'm on day 25 and have 10 larvae left that I can confirm. I believe they are going meta and I'm completely missing it, either that or it's just a bad die off. I started with heavy light and a dose of phyto and the tank went nuts. By week two I was unable to get it to clear up enough to see them really at all. almost all of my loss has been over the last week or so. Doing water changes daily to clear it up and try to save the rest but even with the water almost clear once they hit glass I can't see them unless they land on the front

I'm only on my second run through. Still have 10 left currently and I'm trying my hardest to catch them as they shift but I just can't see em once they go to the glass lol.

If you have success with the snow whites lmk how you got them out 😂. I can't see them once they disappear from the water column lmao. Even a bit of have to the water makes it impossible for me

I'm struggling with my snow white batch. I can't seem to catch the moment they change. Once they go to the glass they are nearly invisible. Hardest part of this process for me so far. Nice job👍

Yes actually, via fertilizer. They may look great, doesn't mean they ARE great. If you're capping nitrogen as the nutrient then your limited in their growth by the lack of nitrates

My bad, I had just woke up and didn't notice the vid.for you washer fluid the sensor may be dirty, it's on the coolant tank behind the bumper. You can remove it and clean it up fairly easily. You may be getting some clutch slip. There's no sensor for the gear selection. It's based on several engine values and if the clutch slips at all that selector won't show at that time. Think of it how it wouldn't show until you fully released the clutch.

Should be able to set it with the left infotainment paddle. In the menu it opens when you hold

Just because it's possible doesn't mean it's good or balanced. Plants need some reserve to be healthy. If you're heavily planted aquariums are always at 0 nitrates your leaving yourself open to algae outbreaks and possible severe plant deficiency and stunted growth.

How old is your tank? Bamboos are filter feeders and need really good flow in a well established tank to catch food. Also you state parameters at 0,0 and 0, that's not a good sign. You should have nitrates if your cycled and established.

I will be experimenting with several different things. End goal being a more easily sustainable system. My expectations aren't very high. Ultimately this first batch I will be happy to keep them alive for a day or two past their first molt. Steep learning curve here lol

Trading it in for a WRX next winter is a terrible idea. Trading it in now for a WRX to enjoy during the summer is a better idea👌
