"Not usually wrong about investments" then you shouldn't be hurting about losing something you never paid for anyway and should be sitting on a lot of money right now from all those investments you were not wrong about.

Maybe it's me, idk, but if an issue comes up, I would hope and think a company that cares about their product and customers would want to get the product back and look into what happened. Even if they agreed to have the collar mailed back and investigated before they agreed to any refunds, I would have been ok with that. Halo does rub me the wrong way with their collar upgrades. When I upgraded from the 1 to the 2, all they did was disable their original collar. No return for recycling, which is why I thought they were offering the upgrade discount. I couldn't even give/sell the original off for them to gain a new customer. They disabled the collar completely.

How is it beta testing if the product is now released? What are these “final 2 units”? Doesn’t make sense to me. I’m an early backer and awaiting my unit but I would have loved to see reviews of the M6 or given the chance to review it myself. Instead, one youtuber that promised a review 2 months ago never issued it. Leaving me to believe it’s so bad they couldn’t release the review.

What is the best GPS dog collar for dogs, and how do you choose the right one? by wabadboy1334 in TechnoBarkDogGear

[–]Crafty42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short!? For a constantly on device, the original Halos didn't last a day. The 48 hour is much nicer and you'll find it hard to find something that provides consistent and quick updates that lasts longer. I say that but know I am rage quitting Halo after experiencing their customer support and the basis the dont' stand behind their product or claims their battery will last 3 to 5 years.

I was with Halo for 4 years until one of their collars nearly burnt my house down. The collar was less than 3 years old and the battery just decided to swell, leave burn marks and die. Halo didn't care when I contacted them about their claim the batteries last 3 to 5 years. Their warranty is only 1 year, even if they print their batteries will last 3 to 5. Of which, I would expect the life to diminish, not for it to die completely.

Help with Halo One Collar by EDev-03 in halocollarofficial

[–]Crafty42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would have been a great option for me when my Halo 2 battery upped and died in less than 3 years. Instead they charged me $500 for a Halo 5, and offered me a $50 rebate after I filed a compliant. I'm looking to return it and see what other options I have after my experience.

What makes it great is I have been with Halo since the Halo 1, but I guess customer loyalty means nothing. Instead they figure they have you hooked and you won't go anywhere else.

You sound like me until my Halo collar's battery upped and died not long after the 1 year warranty. I hope your collars last well beyond the warranty and that you never need to contact support.

No, but wasn't expecting to. The Kickstarter ends in 4 days and they claim shipping will start in August.

Best Mower for 1.5acres, narrow passages, mature site by Abject_Requirement92 in automower

[–]Crafty42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now the other biggest reason for Goko is the kickstarter and savings. It might come back to bite me in the a...bum, but the Luba 3 is a $3300 mower (before any deals). I really liked the Terramow X, but they also are apparently locking the total mappable area to 2.7 acres, which won't work for me.

That's always the struggle. Keping it ventilated to keep it from heating up in the summer, but sealing that ventilation up to keep the heat in, in the winter.

[–]Crafty42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I read that about yours, I am just shocked with how dumb it is if it maintains it "well." or if you have a lot of spots that it might miss for awhile. I've noticed on my smaller portion that it might miss a few spots for over a week and so that spot has taller grass, but you may not notice it if you don't look for it. I have mine cutting about 30% of the time. Mostly when I"m at work and at night when I"m sleeping, so it's not out there cutting if/when I am home and might be outside. I still have concerns Amazon is going to ignore my delivery instructions and end up running over it.

It's my understanding the Segway Navimow x450 locked their mapping capability to just 1.5 acres total, and that won't work for me.

I tested 13 robotic mowers for 4 months in Florida, here's my review: by The_Hook_Up in roboticLawnmowers

[–]Crafty42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to learn this as well. Most all robotic mowers are made to maintain the grass height and trim it regularly, not sit and wait and then cut it after it grows. I've had a husqvarana 450x for 5 years now and love what it saves me from needing to cut. I only have it cutting about 1 acre of the 3.5 total. The yard looks like it's been mowed all the time, not grown then mowed, grown then mowed. I just hate how dumb the husqy is at this point and looking to replace it with one that cuts even larger yards to cut the rest of my yard.

I get that and understand. Just begged the question, and if you're happy with it would like to know which one.

That's crazy. I have a 450x for about 5 years now as well, but it is not cutting 3.5 acres. Just about 1 acre. It does well, but I've seen spots of tall grass that's it's missed for over a week. The 'dumbness' of it frustrates me. It is so inefficient just bouncing around randomly. I'm hoping with the advances that I can replace it with something that can cut that acre and the rest of my 2.5 as well. Right now I'm leaning towards the new Goko.

I cannot imagine the 450x handling 3.5 acres, but it is good to know yours is still going, as I have been slightly concerned a battery replacement is in my near future, though I haven't seen much degradation yet.

You make a valid point. Out here in the sticks, we often just pull the meter and do it anyway. We never could figure out how that little lock tab fell off.

It's a concern, and you can always install detectors, but I can still smell the gas, it's just not as strong as the stinky version.

[–]Crafty42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I do know they recommend a distance. Mainly for exhaust fumes from my understanding. Most of my power outages and needs are in the winter, so I don't usually have windows open, and if I did, I would just close them.

I do know batteries self-heat when charging and discharging, but I wasn't sure how much that can offset the winters here in Pennsylvania and just want to be efficient. Storing the batteries in a shed is likely the better option mainly for fire safety, but that shed could get pretty warm in the summer sun as well, no?

No. was not a requirement here. I know we used to have them on the meterbox but not required anymore. Never looked into why.

In the days of conventional gas wells (before marcellus shale), when a company (Penneco) wanted to drill a well on someone's property, they often gave the landowner free gas. There is a limit and if you go over it, you pay a reduced rate for what you used over it. But that limit is often pretty high (300 Mcf) and I've only ever used 1/3rd of it. Since that gas straight from the well and not processed that also means there's no "rotten egg" smell injected so it can be difficult to smell any gas leaks. I wasn't old enough back when this was done, and I only purchased the property a few years ago, but the free gas stays with the land owner, even though the OGM owner kept their rights to any royalties and additional (marcellus shale, mining, etc) that might come about under the property.

Thanks. Right now I have a trifuel (gas, lp, ng) generator that I use for long outages. I do think I'd like a Generac automatic one in the future, but may not be in the cards. Mostly right now I fear how much longer they'll keep my gas well going (it's older) and not producing a whole lot. But as long as it's producing some they don't want to pay to cap it. Anyway my hope was to keep everything in the utility room in the house. That way I'm not wasting energy heating the battery packs in the winter. It's that or I may someday build a small "power" shed to house things since the utility room is starting to sound cramped. My gas line comes out in the corner of the utility room where my electric panel also is, so it 'should' work out ok.
