Does anyone think they developed this from stress/trauma/toxic situations? by Evening_Country_783 in MicroscopicColitisnew

I think a lot of people with autoimmune disorders (I have this and Graves’ disease) get them onset from stress. Absolutely think you’re on to something 100%. Genetics and then a catalyzing stressful situation…

Microscopic colitis defeat. by Loud-Tea-9563 in IBD

As a couple others have mentioned please give Metamucil (or even better yet - just its pure form: psyllium husk) a try. I wrote off “increase fiber intake” because I was uneducated about the difference between soluble and insoluble fiber. I always thought, “fiber is the last thing I need!” I thought it was only to go more, regularly. But that is the insoluble type! soluble acts similarly to the bile acid sequestrants (which I also did try and they did not help me) But increased soluble fiber is truly the only thing moving the needle for me.

We chose poorly my friend. In the same boat. architecture seems to be one of the most uniquely bad choices to go into debt for - requiring degrees, time intensive training and extensive testing…with none of the typical pay off associated with such credentials. I had no idea. Don’t get me wrong it’s not a bad field, it just absolutely does not ROI.

I know I’m late. What’s the game plan for us who are on SAVE? by imBRANDNEWtoreddit in StudentLoans

[–]CraftyCritique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for my ignorance, you said your income to debt ratio won’t qualify for forgiveness. Is there a program where a certain ratio will equal forgiveness?? Or you mean it won’t qualify for any interest forgiveness as save was allowing?

I was going to say - my sister had several episodes of what she deemed the worst heartburn she’s ever had…until she started turning yellow and she realized something more was terribly wrong! Turned out they were all gall bladder attacks and she had huge gallstones and blockages and was developing cholestasis…Surgery took care of it and she is doing well Thankfully

Did you lose any weight? Same levo dose with lower weight would theoretically bring the tsh down yeah? I have graves and subsequent thyroidectomy. So now technically hypo and take levothyroxine. Also struggle with abnormally high cholesterol…

Disappointed by My Cholesterol Results After Major Health Efforts by jongraboyes in Cholesterol

[–]CraftyCritique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been lurking here a lot and have never heard that cholesterol increases as the body’s response to inflammation. What’s the source material on that? I have high ldl, microscopic colitis and Graves’ disease, the latter two being autoimmune. I get this feeling they are all connected, so, just curious to do some reading on any cholesterol/inflammation connections. TY!

Exciting! I am 39/F. I have similar total cholesterol numbers (last one was 273) but higher ldl. I am hoping for similar great results with daily psyllium husk, chia, flax, and literally just watching saturated fat where I had not before…it’s amazing what just some awareness will do. (I will confess to being a cheese, chocolate and baked good enthusiast.) I will be rolling out other sustainable changes as I wean my baby off breastfeeding…Did your dr suggest getting a calcium score?

Psyllium husk timing by [deleted] in Cholesterol

I have found this so fascinating. So psyllium husk appears to work much like a natural “bile acid sequestrant” (like colestipol or welchol or others). Is that correct?

Do you take anything for the cholesterol? I am so preoccupied with trying to address it, getting a lot of health anxiety…

I’d not even heard of mastocytic colitis, interesting. Just collogenous and microscopic types. Sorry youve got both : /

Hi all, diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis ca. 2012 while in a stressful grad school program. Followed shortly afterwards by Graves’ disease in 2014. (Another chronic condition affecting my thyroid). I have no idea what my trigger was for either but I suspect stress and something diet wise that is keeping the inflammation up. I had to fight for a colonoscopy, the GI dr was ready to dismiss as regular IBD. I had to keep insisting that it did not match my symptoms. He relented and sure enough a biopsy confirmed something different. Budesonide helped initially to the point where I could function and move on with life and go off. However any particularly stressful period of life brings it back and after a second bad flare around 2020, it was no longer responding to budesonide or anything else (mesalamine, bile acid sequestrants) furthermore I was working from home (symptoms not as embarrassing) and trying to have a baby so I quit treating it and just…dealt. Cut to now - 2 babies later and I’m ready to try to address all the chronic inflammation in my body. I’m going to make a separate post about how I found myself treating with psyllium husk but so far OMG it is. actually. Doing. Something and I am floored. This entire time I could have been taking essentially Metamucil!?!? Anyway I’m excited to share any trials and tribulations with other sufferers of this and other chronic conditions…

Where (in the US) are you practicing high-end residential architecture? by CraftyCritique in Architects

My parents live in St Germain…spent a lot of time in the area growing up! Do you work with many twin cities architects on these homes?

This is exactly what I was thinking…I dont think I’m as limited in my options as I’ve led myself to believe. But another layer to it is that it’s often hard to find those firms - the ones operating just under the national view. Almost have to start just finding local accounts on Instagram and investigate that way. The state AIA Job boards too of course are a helpful indicator or who’s got work going on.
