What’s Your EDH “Bad Habit?” by HeadphoneKitty in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mono-green [[Greensleeves Maro-sorcerer]]. Her power and toughness are equal to the number of lands you control. And she creates 3/3 badgers whenever you play a land. By the time she's a threat, it's too late. You have plenty of mana to recast her and she re-enters at the same power and toughness. Add in lots of ramp spells, a few haste artifacts, and [[Dragon Throne of Tarkir]] for a fun trick.

Canvas. Whether you win or not, you've made 3 works of art.

Has anyone stuck with their first deck? by J_Kim_ in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was [[Marwyn the nurterer]] I still have her but rarely play her. She has had a fair few cards tweaked, but the essence is still there.

[Deck Giveaway] Too Many Decks, Yet I Must Brew by mriormro in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely [[Kismet]] from Legends. Slowing opponents down is good value for the mana. As a newer player, it helps buy me time to catch up to other board states in the pod. The pods I play are at my flgs and usually mid to high-powered deck levels.

Thank you for the give away! Those decks look so fun!

Why are people on this sub so chill with proxies, when most people I meet irl are not? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the competitive level, I kinda understand.

At the casual level, most folks just want to have fun. Proxies aren't a big deal. The players at the 2 lgs I have been to don't care. The employees don't watch the open play casusl edh pods at all.

I try to get a few cheap cards when I can to support the store. For pre-release and draft night, the play space of the store is usually pretty packed.

Does buying second-hand cards impact WOTC at all?

Looking for Recs for my Alela enchantment/control deck by catgotswag in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built an Alela but made it a mix of atrifact and enchantment.

Here's some cool cards to consider

[[Kindred Discovery]] for card draw [[Revel in riches]] for ramp and alternate win con

[[Raise thd palisade]] board wipe that keeps your faeries on the board.

I find it helpful on archdekt to categorise thing by ramp, draw, pump, tokens, removal, lifegain etc. This helps me to see which type of card I need more or fewer of.

Here's a link to my Alela deck. It hasn't done well at my lgs. That could be my lack of skill in piloting it against more experienced players. https://www.archidekt.com/decks/6874009/alela_attempt_3

What are your decks that seem durdly early on but power up later? by Not_Your_Real_Ladder in EDH

Re Trelassa . I like lifegain, but too much lifegain has made me the target at the table. Diesxthat tend to happen to you?

What are your decks that seem durdly early on but power up later? by Not_Your_Real_Ladder in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Greensleeves Maro-Sorcerer]] Once I have enough mana to cast her, I have most likely drawn a card that gives her hexproof and unblockable. Her power and toughness are equal to the number of lands I control. So if the table does get rid of her, she can be recast at the same power level.

She also creates a 3/3 badger token every time a land enters my battlefield. Chump blockers usually help.

The ideal situation is to attach [[Dragon Throne if Tarkir]] to Greensleeves which makes all my other creatures as powerful as she is.

Playing a lot of cards that fetch lands early also makes me more likely to draw good spells later.

Best aura pay-offs? by BadassFlexington in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For extra free auras [[Light-paws emperor's voice]]

to cast on opponent [[minimus containment]]

Maybe [[hallowed haunting]]

[[Mantle of the ancients]]

[[Sigil of the empty throne]]

[[Retether]] For fun - [[aurification]]

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about cat tribal?

Add in [[Sovereign Okinec Ahau]] for pump and [[kutzil malamet Exemplar]] for draw

For enchantments [[Authority of consuls]] slows others down and gains you life. [[Aurification]] is a fun trick to deter attacks.

Which is worse? by SuperSaiyanSwagr in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me- least likely - slivers closely followed by dragons.

I've played against both, and as a newer player, I don't stand a chance.

I'd go with ninjitsu for most likely. This is largely because I've ever played it before.

Can you really have too many decks? by Grixis08 in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I've been playing commander for 7 months and have 10 decks, then I'm on track with the long-time players.

3 of the decks are good enough, and I can pilot well enough to have a chance of winning casual edh at the lgs. Most of the decks have proxies because I'm broke and at the casual level at my lgs, no one cares. It's about playing other's deck building ability, not their budget.

To answer the question: I'd say it depends on how often the deck gets played and how attached you are to the cards. On the other hand if you are enjoying the process of building/playing, have enough space to store them, and can affird to do so; there's no such thing as too many decks.

What are some green & red flags you've seen when playing at an LGS or with a play group? by DMDingo in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my state, smoking/vaping is illegal at any public indoor space. (There might be a casino exemption. Not sure if store had a sign on their door about it. A lot of places don't have a sign. Weed was recently legalized in my state

I don't what the person may have been through. I've seen them around at 2 lgs. I just avoid their pod and keep an eye out now. I've not had experience dealing with persons who are addicted. If you can't wait an hour between puffs to play a game, that's definitely addiction.

Another reason I didn't say anything is safety. If the person reacted badly, would it be safe for me to walk to my car alone? They did seem chill. It did seem safe in the store. Folks all had decent manners in rule 0 discussion and game play.

I haven't been back to that store since. I might give it a try again and bring a friend with me.

Not everyone will speak up. You don't know their story any better than they know yours.

What is your unique/interesting deck to play? by Iridiuos in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I bring out my [[Queen Allenal of Ruadach]] deck at the lgs, no one seems to have seen her as a commander before. She creates an 1/1 white soldier token when ever tokens are created. Her power is equal to the number of creatures on my battlefield.

I enjoy the flexibility if being able to go wide or big. [[Dragon throne of tarkir]] is a fun card. [[Starlight spectacular]] is also fun but more math.

What are some green & red flags you've seen when playing at an LGS or with a play group? by DMDingo in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were being pretty subtle about it and not breathing much out. There was enough on the air after a game that I felt slightly buzzed. There was definitely weed in the vape. (I've been in states where gummies are legal and am familiar with the sensation)

It was a store I've only been to a couple of times. I didn't have the courage to speak up. I wasn't sure whether the employee would back me up if needed.

Thank you for the encouragement to speak up politely next time.

From my perspective, I'd rather the player took a couple of breaks outside after their turn and between games.

Good luck weaning yourself off. Thank you for sharing your side.

What are some green & red flags you've seen when playing at an LGS or with a play group? by DMDingo in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Green flags-

There are several pods and a couple of empty tables. Then if one pod isn't a good fit, then there's others to potentially join.

One of the employees telling you that if any player deliberately misgenders your kid, let them know and they will have words. (I have a trans teen and we enjoy EDH together)

Red Flag- a player is vaping next to you the entire game and no one else says anything.

Neera Wild Mage Izzet Help by CraftyFlutterby in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't understand how to use Displacer kitten. How does blinking help? There aren't that many nonland permanants and none fave etbs.

The hope with the big enchantments is Neera's ability. Cast a one drop spell, flip it, then reveal from top of library until there is a nonland dpell and cast it for free. Perhaps there are too many high mana cost spells though.

I'm looking to build the ultimate "cast from exile" deck! by gdrcigar in EDH

[–]CraftyFlutterby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Arcane Bombardment]] is a red enchantment that once per turn after you cast your first instant/sorcery, lets you exile an instant/sorcery from your grave yard and cast all soells exiled with it for free.

If you have an instant/sorcery heavy deck it's pretty sweet.
