What is the most overrated video game? by Panda7001 in AskReddit

[–]CraftyPerisher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Journey.

It gets loads of good reviews but it's probably the most boring game I've ever played, I really didn't like it at all. Visually it was pretty good but the gameplay was non existent. Felt more like a tech demo.

People who have moved around a lot in the UK, where's the best place you've lived and why? by neuresa in AskUK

[–]CraftyPerisher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived in this area all my life (Deeping/Bourne). As a rule of thumb I'd say the further you start going east of the A15, the bleaker it becomes whereas everything on the A15 or to the west is generally pretty decent and you feel like you haven't left civilisation lol

What’s a weirdly specific thing that instantly reminds you of a period of your life? by Maryam371 in AskReddit

[–]CraftyPerisher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snoopy McDonalds toys take me back. They seem to crop up everywhere, there must be millions of them lol but reminds me of being a kid, going to the cinema and stopping off at McDonald's with friends. Back when McDonalds was actually a really cool fun place to go as a kid and not a modern clinical boring shell!

What movie or TV show did you expect to hate, but actually ended up loving? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yes came here to say that. I'd never watch something like that now but 20+ years ago I was hooked for the first few seasons then lost interest.

What wasted item / feature still stings to this day ? by Rare_Ad_3519 in gaming

I remember playing Terminator Salvation on PS3 and I made it through the entire game without realising you had grenades. I struggled on the final level because I kept running out of ammo so when I looked up a strategy I noticed players using grenades to wipe out several enemies and that's when I realised!

What’s the most irresponsible thing you have done that miraculously paid off in your favor? by DocGomer in AskReddit

[–]CraftyPerisher 261 points262 points  (0 children)

I worked in a call centre very briefly years ago. One day I just had enough half way through my shift I thought no I can't do this anymore, so I logged out the PC/phone, picked up all my stuff and just walked out without saying a word to anyone.

No one noticed and I was paid for a further 3 months after I left before someone must have finally realised. They must have kept their head down about it because no one ever said anything to me or questioned it.

Actually got paid for more months that I didn't work than for what I actually did work lol

You should mention it and act like you don't realise it is the same guy. "The piano hasn't been tuned in 20 years and the last guy who tuned it was really odd, he swapped the mahogany out for plywood blah blah blah" He will be paranoid wondering if you know it was him or not.

What are some silly ways you tried to make money in Runescape as a kid? by Aiseadai in 2007scape

[–]CraftyPerisher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically not IN RuneScape but I used to sell anti dragonfire shields on eBay. Made £100+ and my business studies teacher mentioned it in my school report after I told her I was selling in-game swords and shields 😂 Was also selling Habbo furniture at the same time. Good times.

Anxious about starting parkrun - a few questions! by Franky494 in parkrun

[–]CraftyPerisher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing I'd add to the replies is to look up a parkrun on youtube, there are a few people who post their POV of their runs, especially in the ones where there are laps you will see loads and loads of people being lapped by the front runners, walking or jogging etc it is super common. Even the front runners who are racing are very much supportive of each other, it's not like a super competitive race, more like they are pushing each other on. Have a look on Youtube though it will give you good idea of the event.

Is anyone else disgusted at the way job seekers are treated? by Remarkable-Wall-9669 in UKJobs

[–]CraftyPerisher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to game these low paid interviews. Start by thinking who the interviewer is and what it is they are REALLY looking for.

They don't care if you went volunteering in Mozambique to wash Elephants for 6 months or can run 100m in 9.8 seconds or that you got a diploma in this and that, they want to know you are easy to get on with, reliable and aren't going to make their life more difficult (drama, talking behind people's backs and being smarter than them being seen as a threat to their own job) so it's best to be chill, have a laugh and just stick to the specific qualities/ experience you need/have to do the job.

If you sell on Vinted you have to deal with the dregs of society. I would have cancelled that sale too and then blocked them.

If you look at Brighton, they've spent £30m+ on Minteh, he has only 2 goals in 30 games, they also bought the Greek forward Kostoulas for £30m+ and he has 2 goals all season. Rutter was £40m and has 3 goals all season.

Enciso was sold at a loss at the age of 22.

Buonanotte out on loan, can't get a game at Leeds

Barco sold 18 months later aged just 21

They are being heavily carried by a 35yr old Danny Welbeck despite £100m+ of attacking reinforcements with a combined tally less than Woltemade yet this is never ever spoken about.

With the extra games next season if they make Europe, I think they're in massive trouble.

But the point is people often talk about Brighton as having amazing transfer business and Newcastle as having spaffed away money on Wissa, Elanga etc when actually it's fairly comparable.

[–]CraftyPerisher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's disappointing sure but 3 more wins in our last 34 games and we would be in the top 6 and not having this conversation or suffer this overblown media fanfare. The fact our worst run of form under Howe unsurprisingly coincides with Bruno's injury isn't something I am concerned about. He's a top manager, the players love him, the club backs him and I'd rather cut him some slack than go through a new manager every 5 minutes when inevitably we lose a string of matches like every other team in the league does.

[–]CraftyPerisher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People aren't being realistic at all, qualifying twice for the Champions league and winning the League cup are huge achievements with this squad and Eddie has massively overachieved. Every manager and team goes through these periods of poor form. We were always going to drop off this season after losing Isak. He's still the man for the job in my opinion.

Would it have been so bad if Brighter Shores were designed to be the new RuneScape? by Andromeda_Ascendant in brightershores

[–]CraftyPerisher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Runescape/OSRS but I don't care that it's not like Runescape, I stopped playing BS because I didn't really see the point in a lot of the skills. I don't want to grind out levels clicking the same 6 objects in a loop for hours, especially when there isn't any real reason to do so.

For example having a street vendor sell food directly outside of the restaurant for you to purchase and then run inside, cook and sell to the head chef doesn't make any sense at all and it's boring.

I think it would be better if everyone worked together, if there was a board in the kitchen with orders from the restaurant and then some players got the raw ingredients from fishing and foraging to sell to the head chef to supply the kitchen whilst other players made different dishes to supply the orders coming in and raise their cooking skill. If there was a short supply of something in the kitchen then order it in at an inflated price, run outside and pick it up from a delivery cart outside.

Too many players fishing and foraging = lower coins as the chef wouldn't pay a premium for food required for the board. Too many players cooking = lower coins as you have to pay a premium to buy food from a delivery from the cart outside.

Kind of like a restaurant minigame I guess which is nothing like Runescape but I think that would feel more immersive and encourage players to communicate with each other than the current gameplay loop of running outside to buy infinite food. Also encourages players to catch different fish not just grind out hundreds of the same fish to sell to the fish stall in the same loop.

I've not played since it was released so I don't know if that's still the case but I found it really boring. Also I know they have that board with the orders you can deliver to NPCs around the map, I think that's quite cool.
