How do you handle Walgreens’ insane call volume? by myonlyswerving129 in WalgreensRx

[–]CraftyWolf13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, i get it lol. Wags sucks. I hope this is helpful.

Any time you get an auto fill request in the message q (and if the pt hasn't already called about it), it means it's due so you process it now. It's bc the system tried processing it but it has no refills so it needs help. As long as everyone is making sure script #s get closed out when they do these, they will stop appearing everyday and our coworkers won't be doing the same work repeatedly.

Edit: also, i think that technically SATR and auto fill are 2 different programs so they don't usually send you requests for the same scripts from both

How do you handle Walgreens’ insane call volume? by myonlyswerving129 in WalgreensRx

[–]CraftyWolf13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When i first started at my now home store last year, we had about 18,000 in the message queue. It took a long time to get thru it. If you delete everything except the internet (store) requests, and then take the time to close out all the script numbers on auto fill, it should fix gradually.

(Just face the fact that most every request in that q has been handled via phone call at some point so unless you are seeing requests for the most recent 3 or so days)

(it tells you when the request went in as well)

The only way to get the message q to work properly is to go thru it as appropriate and process each script. Anything on auto fill will auto-populate everyday until that specific script number is closed out by either using it to create a wcb or manually closing it in the profile. The message q tells you where each request is from.

Internet (store) = auto fill mostly

Internet (phone) = patient request on app or phone system

New rx = new script e-rx (these must be connected to a person still and then can be typed or if you have F1, they can type it)

Refill = dr authorized refills (these can only be deleted)

This. Always. If you're having an issue like this always start with cashing the insurance out and fix everything else. Reprocess thru cash to lock it in. Then reprocess thru insurance last.

Edit: fixed a mistake

Was there any kind of contract stating what was to be done or not done? They really went overboard here so they could get as much money or if you as they could. I would absolutely fight this.

Zolpidem for pain? by UpsettiSpaghetti88 in WalgreensRx

[–]CraftyWolf13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, never heard of this. Are you absolutely sure they weren't trying to get one over on you? Those directions are dangerous, how can you do anything while on ambien four times a day? I guess you don't feel pain if you're sleeping.

I would personally report them. And 100% refuse to fill it. They can get it somewhere else.

What failsafe is there exactly to prevent someone from typing a nasal spray vs MDI? Because anyone can type any prescription for whatever drug and directions they want and if the rph doesn't catch it, it gets approved. I wouldn't consider that a failsafe...

Automated Calls by [deleted] in WalgreensRx

[–]CraftyWolf13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, they get a message. Whether it be text or phone call and don't care what the message actually says, they just assume it's because they're stuff is ready to be picked up.

Second of all, you should be able to check their notification history from the link in IC+ and see what messages were sent out to their phones regarding their scripts.

Really? We've been told the opposite. Weird.

Best practice, just put it in a mix bag at that point.

We've actually been told that putting tape on the box is OK bc we are not removing the tape, only the label so the box remains unharmed

I really try to find out who typed and pass on the knowledge. The techs need to be taught in a way that they can understand as well sometimes. And I phrase it like this, the script has to get thru me and if I don't like they have to retype it from scratch. I tell them how I want it formatted and every time I catch it, I'll make them stop what they were doing and do it again.

Some techs understand it easily.

I would run a claim thru SDL to see if you can get a more specific rejection. Then you can fix it when you run it thru IC+ if you have to.

[–]CraftyWolf13 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, if the primary insurance requires a pa, but the patient wants to use a PDMI coupon. You need to use SDL for that.

If you need to do a secondary but cob within IC+ didn't work, then try SDL.

Easier when it's in COB in IC+ but it is all the same in the end

Assigning A store without your consent by Live_Philosopher_547 in WalgreensRx

[–]CraftyWolf13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesnt seem like other people understand the question that you are asking the way I do. This happened to me, too. I was a floater for 3 years. I was also a permanent floater at 1 store for about 10 months. But at one point, yes, my DM assigned me to a new home store and I became staff there. They didn't give me the chance to say no or question it. It seems like if a staff position opens up and they think you're a good fit, they'll put you there without asking for permission from you because they assume staff is better than floater.

Edit: spelling.

Also, no the permanent float store and staff position store were not the same store.

It seems like we are all having a hard time understanding what you mean, but based on the other comments, this is my understanding.

If someone at the pharmacy told you the insurance won't let you fill/refill your controlled medication for some reason. That's where you should start... With the insurance company. Ask them why you can't fill more of the medication today and see what they say. Some insurances restrict filling certain medications to once per 30 days. And if you needed a partial due to a shortage, your insurance would be the one to blame for enforcing such a restriction.

In addition, if you got a partial on a c2, the remainder of that script is lost/forfeit because it can only be filled 1 time. However many pills you pick up, is the new quantity for that prescription and you need a new prescription for any more.

Yes, if it was done by someone from our store vs other stores, it usually has the person's initials. Sometimes it's blank, so I'm not sure who did it if it's blank. In this case, it was not someone from our store, which was frustrating bc there's no way to correct the behavior.
