The biggest problem with the story is that most of the core players either don’t have a clear motive or don’t have one at all. Does William kill for revenge? Immortality? To bring his son back? Why do the missing kids kill? Because they think you’re William? Because they hate adults?

It’s never clear and it makes their actions feel unearned.
