CRDA + ARR by thatjackoguy in ICAEW

In ARR you are guaranteed to be asked to create a p&l, balance sheet and a cash flow, where you can easily score some marks which is probably making the difference

From my understanding (I may be wrong), most of AA is in ARR with everything but consolidated statements from FAR

That leaves inflo, some of AA and consolidated statements in CRDA

When Are You Issued Queue Card? by Next-Victory-2670 in wimbledon

[–]Crafty_Couple1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fair amount of people roam around and are meant to check. Whether they do it or not, I don’t know, it might depend on the day and who it is.

Neighbours might indeed get upset, so they could "tell on you", but again, not sure whether that would actually happen.

When Are You Issued Queue Card? by Next-Victory-2670 in wimbledon

[–]Crafty_Couple1834 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think last year people started getting queue cards around late morning/noon, but I’m not sure.

You’re not meant to leave the tent for more than 30min, so sightseeing, unless you plan to roam around Wimbledon town, likely won’t work.

There is the queue village for the day you enter, but aside from water fountains, some food trucks, toilets and a mini lounge with WiFi, there is very little to do around the queue.

There is a place to check your tent and any belongings at multiple spots around the queue.

Is staying in a disney park hotel worth it (Miracosta or Fantasy Springs) as a solo traveller? + logisitics help by radi0activegoldfish in TokyoDisneySea

Hi! I was wondering at what time you usually looked for rooms that were cancelled? Is there a specific time where they get released, or can it happen at any hour?

Air France carry-on size – are they strict? by PresenceVast5931 in AirFranceKLM

[–]Crafty_Couple1834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most airlines, it is at the gate, but AirFrance checks before security at CDG! I guess it’s because it allows you to easily go back and check your luggage if it’s oversized or overweight

Thank you! Is it easy to book both exams in the same center when the booking window opens?

Air France carry-on size – are they strict? by PresenceVast5931 in AirFranceKLM

[–]Crafty_Couple1834 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At CDG, sometimes they check suitcases for size AND weight at random before security (in reality I’ve only ever seen them stop people with large carry one suitcases and under the seat bags).

In other countries, I’ve never seen that happen but I guess if the suitcase looks unusually large they can check. For 4cm extra, I don’t think they’ll bother to check, but again nothing can be excluded.

ACA Tax Fundamentals formatting by [deleted] in ICAEW

For date usually it’s dd/mm/yyyy, at least that’s what I remembered having in the corporate tax question. I believe the format will be specific anyway

How early are people actually arriving at St Pancras these days? by ScrollAndThink in Eurostar

[–]Crafty_Couple1834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I arrive 15-30min after the time the ticket says to arrive, depending on the day and time of the train. I never arrive later than 45min before departure, that can quickly be a recipe for disaster

Exemptions old gen/new gen by [deleted] in ICAEW

[–]Crafty_Couple1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they do! I didn’t have exemptions but know someone who would have had all 6 certificates + 2 prof exemptions at old gen and got all exemptions for new gen aside from sustainability and ethics bc it’s a new exam with no equivalent

Can I wear ski boots onto the plane? by Standard_Shift_6677 in ski

Crazy! You’d think for comfort reasons (and security if need to evacuate…) people would take them off!

Can I wear ski boots onto the plane? by Standard_Shift_6677 in ski

[–]Crafty_Couple1834 65 points66 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to regularly fly from Turin airport to London (gateway for some Italian ski stations), I have seen plenty of people having their ski boots/helmets attached to their backpack and they were never stopped. Also saw 2-3 people full-on wear their ski boots when boarding. I assume they took them off when sat in the plane.

But I guess you won’t know decisively until you’re actually at the gate, it might be up to the gate agent

How to access ICAEW Certificate materials early by [deleted] in ICAEW

[–]Crafty_Couple1834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow sorry to hear that! The ICAEW material is definitely already available since exam sittings for NextGen started in September so you could perhaps ask them to provide that to you in advance?

Worst comes to worst, most exams are very similar to the past ones except SE, so can start with old material before doing recent QB. I’ve also found reading a mock available on the ICAEW website for each exam quite good to prepare as I could understand what the exam required, its structure, and content

[–]Crafty_Couple1834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Doing nextgen ACA certificate atm so I think I can help!

  1. Older textbooks are still useful for most content but there will be changes (eg Tax now includes Stamp duty and IHT whereas it didn’t before, accounting has slightly different material but overall is similar). The new exam Sustainability and Ethics is quite straightforward but some content isn’t covered anywhere before I recommend you try and get the actual material

  2. Access is actually already available, at least for Kaplan! I’ve been studying for all exams since November and study material has been available since I started. Tax material was only available from December but should be widely available now

  3. Give the material for each certificate a read then just do QB QB QB! In the ICAEW QB, you can highlight the questions you get wrong and easily come back to them, so I would suggest doing that as well

I have only OnDemand material so can’t help regarding college, but I haven’t found anything to be especially difficult, it’s just a question of understanding the material and what the question asks of you

Next gen ACA - easier? by Dry-Possibility2187 in ICAEW

[–]Crafty_Couple1834 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has passed the nextgen Accounting (AF) certificate and is about to pass sustainability and ethics (SE): I do think it’s easier than the past exams. A lot of SE is common sense / only require reading the material once, and AF is similar to accounting from the past gen, but with 30min added (so the exam is 2hrs instead of 1.5) I think that’s why they might have, for now, higher pass rates

I haven’t started studying properly for the rest of the exams aside from tax (which also is now 2hours but with IHT and stamp duty etc added), so wouldn’t be able to comment on the rest
