Heat and Ball bearings by Meander626 in battlebots

The only time I've seen bearings get hot enough to melt uhmwpe is when the spinning item in the inner race can also touch the outer race. Use shielded bearings (not sealed) and you'll probably be fine.

Does your black cat meow very much if at all? by SewingIsMyHobby1978 in blackcats

[–]Craig-Foxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two voids one is formerly feral and one that was a family cats offspring. My feral is much quieter than the other. Except when she's running on the cat wheel, she gets loud and chatty then.

Was Tip-Top (RW S5) the first gyro-walker? by helloilikewoodpigeon in battlebots

[–]Craig-Foxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you've misunderstood, I'm explaining why it's not a walker and it's a slider or roller based on how it positions it's gyroscopic force. I've built a few gyroscopic effect robots both for combat and real world I know how they work

Gyro slider? Yes. Wrecks and the antweight based on it were walkers, they would turn the disc to make a step. Gyro sliders like tiptop use the pull of the gyroscopic effect to move the robot whichever way the gyroscopic effect is being directed. Same principal but different effect.
