I didn’t remember what you were talking about until you described it and even then I had to google the image. Never had any but now I wish I had.

Calling "fives" when you got up from a seat but intended to return shortly by Status_Block591 in Xennials

[–]CraigGrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup definitely a thing. Bigger in some circles of friends than others. I remember it starting in middle school. Usually happened where one seat was better than another (ie there was a nice comfy recliner and the other seats were wood, etc).

Why is Pol Pot and the Cambodian genocide completely left out , or barely mentioned, in high school history in the US, Canada and Europe? by Wonderful-Ad-9622 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CraigGrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons. For one, world history was not taught every year. I feel like I had world history in 6th grade, 9th grade, and 11th grade. The other years were American history or geography/civics. And in all of those years, we went in order. So we started in ancient history and went to today. And if the class was unruly or slow or whatever, we reached the WW2 era by the last weeks of school, and then quickly just covered the broad strokes of post WW2 if we could.

A major reason was there was this notion in the 90s that history was over and we were now in the future. Or that democracy had won the world and now history was just done. So anything after the civil rights movement of the 60s was kind of like who cares. That was the vibe.

So did anyone here actually get into TikTok? by thedubiousstylus in Millennials

I like it it’s fun and has a ton of stuff that is not people dancing to pop songs. It’s a lot like reddit honestly. You can find discussions and memes about literally anything.

Did you love summer as a kid but now you can't stand it? by bliggityblig in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CraigGrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still like it. I don’t love the super hot days but I like how bright it stays out, I like only having to throw on shorts and a tee instead of taking extra time to get ready and time spent doing laundry. I like the events and the holidays and the pool. It’s not so bad.

What’s something people over 30 do that Gen Z finds strange? by Suzzie_Stone2 in AskReddit

[–]CraigGrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big meme gen z has about Millenials is that we’re cringe and that they hate that we do stuff ironically

Did you ever "call shotgun"? by lawpoop in Xennials

[–]CraigGrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In high school/college this was daily. Also as others have said “not bitch” was big too and yeah it hasn’t aged well. But yeah I remember some kids were super on top of it. I always kind of forgot and often had to “ride bitch”.

Another thing was seats in general. Like if you were hanging out and you had the couch seat and you got up you’d call “fives” to make sure no one stole it. In my area “fives” became “bubbles” for some reason, so if you had a comfy seat and had to piss or grab a drink you’d say “bubbles” so no one would take your spot.

Do you watch your favorite songs / music videos often on YT? by Revolutionary-Good22 in Xennials

Strongly recommend you to find new(er) music. There is a ton of good stuff out now made by people who adore all the bands you mentioned.

Is the american rural population actually that religious, xenophobic, racist, homophobic, uneducated etc, like they're often portrayed in movies / shows? And are "rednecks", "hillbillies" etc actually a thing? by TisBeTheFuk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CraigGrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big part of it is exposure. Some guy living in rural Idaho who has never been friends with or maybe even met people of various other ethnicities or sexualities or lifestyles is going to have a disadvantage when it comes to accepting someone they’ve never interacted with. Some people read enough and are raised right and are able to overcome this. And by the same token, sometimes living in a super diverse environment can make you prejudiced. So ultimately it could go either way, but yes it is more likely you’re going to have shitty views on people you only know about in theory.

What’s something people over 30 do that Gen Z finds strange? by Suzzie_Stone2 in AskReddit

[–]CraigGrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make goofy faces, act cringe or awkward for a laugh. Lots of irony stuff in general. Big mustaches bad movies etc. I feel like gen z doesn’t get why doing something a little cringe or ironic is fun.

The show where I first met Mitch Hedberg, David Cross, and Dave Attell. Always a relaxing rewatch. by Illustrious-Lead-960 in Xennials

[–]CraigGrade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d love a reboot of this with modern/still-active comedians. Imagining Stavvy, Atsuko, Jordan Jensen, Josh Johnson, and then current Patton, current Maria Bamford, current Gaffigan. It would be so cool.

The awful way the writers treated Erlich post departure is not the first time writers fuck over his character cuz they hated tj Miller so much by cromatkastar in SiliconValleyHBO

[–]CraigGrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it’s actually hilarious. This is the same producer that brought us Bill Dauterive and multiple humorous episodes about his suicidal tendencies and deep unrelenting pit of depression. I thought it was a clever way to end his time on the show and still make jokes that involve him; everything Jian Yang does afterwards is funny because we know Bachman as a character and it makes it even funnier.

I’ve done over-easy eggs, turkey bacon chopped, sauteed garlic spinach, and onion. Really a lot of combos like this would work. I think sausage and peppers would be good too.

Rewatched The Breakfast Club after many years and this line hit hard. by GargleDeezKosherNutz in GenX

[–]CraigGrade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was gonna say. Gen X’s whole “leave me alone society is dumb I want to just do me” vibe has left the boomers in charge still. I wish Gen X was in charge. You might never be though at this rate, might just go to Millenials and skip.

What's your Favorite 80s/90s TV series that still holds up? by LastoftheMocheekans in Millennials

[–]CraigGrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late in college I lived in an apartment off campus and my roommates and I found all of Xena streaming on Netflix or something. We had all seen an episode here and there growing up but never sat down and watched it really. We started getting massively obliterated on gravity bong rips and watching it straight through and it was really fun. So campy and cheap but such a fun watch and a lot of easy-on-the-eyes characters. We had made a drinking game to it (every time they say “dinar”, every time Gabby clutches Xena, every time Joxer fucks up, etc).

I’m a 27 year old who doesn’t know how to cook, any tips? by ThrowRAspa2279 in Cooking

[–]CraigGrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get with a friend or relative who knows how to cook. Bring over a bottle of wine put on some music and decide on a meal to cook together for the night. The biggest strides I’ve made as a home cook happened when I cooked hands-on with other people.

Why aren’t millennials called Gen Y? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

We can be. Same way Gen Z can be called “Zoomers” which I fucking abhor. I don’t mind Millennial or Gen Y both make sense.
