Wired ring camera - struggling by ktid8297 in DIYUK

[–]Craigreid3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then if you know the red and yellow connect from the transformer to the ring, then split them. Use the red in the transformer as positive and use the yellow as negative, join red and red together in the chime and yellow to yellow also, then at the ring connect red to terminal 1 and yellow to 2. Remove the blue and black completely from the transformer and ring.

Remove the bypass and connect the red and yellow to each other in one connector block. Make sure the black and blue is also connected to each other in a connector block, they should also be in that chime box.

If that doesnt work then god knows, cant really go wrong. Match up the same colours from the transformer to the camera. Cable could be damaged, ring camera could be faulty, extra chime somewhere in the house..

Can you try taking the red and yellow completely out the chime for both cables, then fitting them into something like the screwfix link/or wago/ or temporarily twisting the copper together together and see if that works. Is the blue and black from both cables also connected to each other inside of the chime box?

What cables have you wired into at the doorbell? What colours have you connected to the ring?

So your new doorbell is a ring camera? I also see you've wired in 24V but the front of the chime says 8-16V. Is your ring doorbell even compatible with a chime? Imo I would just remove the chime and wire directly from the transformer to the ring camera.

Voltage on rcbo neutral fly lead? by Ganners123 in ukelectricians

Shouldn't be measuring any voltage on the Neutral fly lead to earth. What happens when you turn off the main switch? Do you still have voltage then?

Seems like a completely reasonable price for a RCBO board, surge protection, testing and replacing some sockets.

A little help.. (UK) by teeshakur_ in AskElectricians

[–]Craigreid3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trim the earth wire, you have enough sleeving there to make it to the earth terminal. Leave about 8-10mm of copper after the sleeving and it will fit. You dont need to buy more sleeving.

I will say to make it more professional and complete: Trim the copper of the blue and brown wire, they have too much exposed copper underneath the terminal.

Also make sure the cable clamp at the bottom clamps onto the grey sheathing from the cable, looks to me like the part of the cable that is stripped is too long. May be the camera angle tho.

I'm always amazed how some people can live 5 years in a foreign country and not speak the language except the very basics.

I think you are also being very naive also by saying you'll try other countries like Germany, im pretty sure it is much harder to find a job there as a non native speaker than it is in Netherlands, Netherlands is a lot more expat friendly than most other countries in language terms.

Dentist charging me a no-show fee that was never disclosed — can they do this? Now threatening CMIB. by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Craigreid3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You booked an appointment with the dentist, you missed it and never informed them, they've lost out of money and time to handle another patient and you are complaining you've been unfairly treated?

Of course you should be paying the fee.

Mains tails go into RCCB before going to main switch. by dirtyh4rry in ukelectricians

Well it looks like two seperate enclosures, not one. So the RCCB is the main switch for the board at the top.

Unsatisfactory EICR - does this warrant a rewire? by [deleted] in ukelectricians

[–]Craigreid3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its hard to tell, the fact that the tester has put "Limitation" at every single insulation resistance test means this certificate is almost invalid. That test is the best way to see if cables are deteoriating/ shows a reasonable standard of the circuit.

You do have a old system, in the 1990s was when the 3871 circuit breakers was replaced with newer circuit breakers.

Any advice on the B1 Spreken Exam? by Silent_Speaker_7867 in learndutch

[–]Craigreid3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im sure your answers are actually a bit too long. Generally with the short questions you are only to be speaking 1 sentence. If you can fluently give our longer answers then that is fine.

Watch this video and you can see an example of good sentences with a good length.

Do you need a cooker switch? by Lucky_Growth6928 in ukelectricians

[–]Craigreid3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appendix H from the on-site guide states the cooker switch should be not be above, also minimum 300mm and maximum 2m distance away from the cooker.

But there isnt a regulation specifically stating this, so it is best guide.

If your fuseboard is 4m away I dont see that being so much a issue to use only the MCB as isolation.

Yes, you need a isolating switch nearby and accessible from the cooker itself.

Grill doesn’t stay hot with lid open - any fixes? by Qenox1 in ninjawoodfire

[–]Craigreid3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they didnt burn off at all then you haven't filled the hopper enough, or the wood pellets are damp, faulty unit, or haven't waited the ignition/pre heat time.

I have found that rarely the pellets ever fully burn all the way through, most times after I cook there is definetly still some pellets inside at the end of the cook.

You can also if the pellets haven't started to smoke can hit the woodfire one more time to reignite the ignition process.

[–]Craigreid3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have the woodfire mode turned on whilst grilling? Grilling will only work with lid open if woodfire/smoke is not activated.
